The determinant when dealing with the open or closed nature of a skill is the stability of the environment where the skill is performed. When a skill is performed in an environment which is changing and unpredictable, it is said that it is an open skill. In comparison, a closed skill is when the surrounding environment is stable and predictable and at times, the variables can be control or dictated. As stated earlier, a skill can have a definitive classification. In this case, netball shooting (outdoors) could be classified closer to an open skill. This is mainly because players, especially shooters, would have to compete with weather conditions etc. For example, a goal shooter could deal with the sun blaring into their eyes, distracting their vision or the wind affecting the shot.…

Where children are concerned, applying simplified or modified rules will contribute to a more enjoyable safer and satisfactory sporting experience. The emphasis is on fun and promoting participation rather than competition. For example, as children cannot focus for as long and become fatigued more easily, using smaller fields and shorter games will contribute promoting safe participation, similarly providing more breaks limit risk or overheating. An example of a modified sport is Netta Netball. Netta Netball is a modified version of netball, some of the rules that accommodate participation for children include; reduced height in the goal post, 8 feet instead…

The style is formal and accessible to the parent readers and he hopes to gain their support in being more sportsmen like.…
Protection among our athletes is what is most important to both players, parents and coaches. Most individuals play sports to have fun, be competitive and win; one rarely ever hears an athlete say, “I’m going to play today to get hurt.” In order to protect ourselves and others, proper education on the sport at hand is necessary. In women’s lacrosse, younger athletes are not allowed to check. When girls reach the high school level the league permits legal checking. The issue at hand, is that the players are not educated prior to entering high school therefor the form and technique is never instilled properly. When an athlete does not know how to properly and safely do something, it can lead to harmful play in general. If coaches teach girls…
