Listening Habits The music I listen to has all to do with my mood most of the time because I like to listen to all types of music. Lately, the artists that represent what type of music I like to listen to is Jesus Culture, Hillsong United, and The Civil Wars. Hillsong United is and Contemporary Christian rock band that originates from the Hillsong Church in Australia (Hillsong Church, 2012). I was introduced to this band when I went to the youth nights at a church I was taking a few Christian based classes at. Since I already liked all kinds of music it was easy to get into the flow of their rock sound. But it was the music lyrics that made me fall in love with this band. This band allowed me to still away spiritually, where I could feel the pure love of the Lord through the music and lyrics. The band Jesus Culture, I happened to stumble upon while listening to Hillsong United on YouTube and saw this group in the related videos section. They literally have the same effect on me as Hillsong United. Utilizing their rock flare with serene lyrics draws me in and takes me on another level spiritually. Being that they are Christian band that originates out of the Bethel Church in Redding, CA (Jesus Culture, 2012). Another group that I have been really drawn to lately is a songwriting duo out of Nashville that plays in a stripped to the bare bones kind of way (The Civil Wars, 2012). They harmonize and have a connection that seems effortless. Not to mention their sound of folk rock is definitely something that keeps you on your toes of what they will do next in the unique way they harmonize along with just a guitar. It was their song Barton Hallow that I happen to see flipping passed the VH1 channel and immediately I fell in love with the way they portray a sound that seems so effortless but so intricate especially, when you just close your eyes and listen.

On April 12, 2017 I attended a dinner at Case Martinez along with the deaf community. Thank you for allowing us to have this time out of class for extra credit. Unlike, my other experience at Pie Fie I was not able to sit at the same time with the rest of the group due to the fact that I got off of work until 5:20 & this event started at 5:30. During this experience I was able to observe a lot. The waitress as Case Martinez have menu cards made for the deaf community. The waitress handed out note cards with the entrée listed on it to make the ordering process easier. Basically, when they were ready to order they just gave her a 2 note cards, one was the dinner entrée and the other was the side. The only issue I could see with this method is…

Rolling Stones is one of my favorite band, they were very interested to dig into find the roots of the rock and roll music: Delta blues. Mick Jager and Keith Richards did several trips to Chicago to learn the old school blues with musicians like muddy water or chuck berry. Once they finally dominated the basic tune they could fusion it with the Brit rock creating the base for their up coming albums and influencing numerous new bands in England and the rest of the world.…

With a wide spread of my arms and a clench of my fist, the last notes of Panic! at the Disco's song, "Victorious" came to an end. As I called the band to attention and to march off the football field, I knew the marching season for the Mead High School Marching Band was coming to an end after another year. I remember feeling jittery and excited despite the fact that I was composed before our eight minute marching show began. I hopped off of my podium, used my shaky hands to disassemble the platform, and exited the field to catch up with the band. Our performance at the St Vrain School District Band Night marked the end to my high school marching band career that started just four years prior.…

I listen to music every day of my life. From the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. My current mood determines what type of music I listen to. For example, in the morning, I like to start my day off with something slow and calm. This usually jazz music with its soft and mellow tones. Then later in the day, I prefer to listen to rap music. It really helps me get excited. This helps me when I am in the gym, especially the sound of the loud bass and tones. I tend to calm down after a long day of activities. I sooth my mood with slow, mellow, and calm music. This really helps my body and mind relax after a long day of work. In conclusion, Jazz, Rap, and R&B are very powerful different types of music, each having its own different style and background.…

Music is one of the greatest and most influential devices that we as humans deal with on a day to day basis. It plays such an important role in our lives and helps build character without us ever thinking twice about it. In today's society there are so many types and genres of music that you can find a song for any type of mood that you're in. Music has the power to bring thousands of people from opposite walks of life together. When I stop and think about the songs that bring up the best memories it creates a wide spectrum of genres. Ranging from Garth Brooks the "Thunder Rolls" to classical Ave Maria, to Bone Thugz N Harmony and Sweetish Rock band by the name of Volbeat. The list of songs to come not only have personal stories behind each and every one of them, but they also tell a timeline from my earliest memories as a child growing up with three older brothers, to the highs and lows of being a teenager in high school, and to spending a year in Afghanistan.…

Watching the film “Get Up Stand Up”, reminded me of just how important music is. It really can be a powerful voice for a cause or a movement. When I watched Woody Guthrie singing “This Land Is Your Land”, it reminded me of the whole debate about immigration today, and how this country is everybody’s land. Woody Guthrie, was singing back in the 60’s, he gave a voice to those who were frustrated with the policies of their government, but I could feel the same passion today that they felt. When he sings “This land was made for you and me”. It really hit home, and I felt like nothing could express that sentiment so potently beautifully as music.…
