Soundtrack of my life

Music is one of the greatest and most influential devices that we as humans deal with on a day to day basis. It plays such an important role in our lives and helps build character without us ever thinking twice about it. In today's society there are so many types and genres of music that you can find a song for any type of mood that you're in. Music has the power to bring thousands of people from opposite walks of life together. When I stop and think about the songs that bring up the best memories it creates a wide spectrum of genres. Ranging from Garth Brooks the "Thunder Rolls" to classical Ave Maria, to Bone Thugz N Harmony and Sweetish Rock band by the name of Volbeat. The list of songs to come not only have personal stories behind each and every one of them, but they also tell a timeline from my earliest memories as a child growing up with three older brothers, to the highs and lows of being a teenager in high school, and to spending a year in Afghanistan. Being the youngest of 4 boys growing up I didn't get to make a whole lot of decisions for myself, and to be honest I didn't really care I just rolled along with whatever Jake, Kyle, and Nate wanted to do. Growing up in the country and living on a farm we naturally became conditioned to listening to country music. At that time Garth Brooks was the country artist hot on the scene. I can remember watching some of his music videos on TV and thinking that he was the coolest guy ever. One of my greatest memories with my brothers is Garth Brooks had a live concert on TV and all of us boys decided to put on a concert of our own. We all ran to the garage and grabbed instruments that could be used as guitars and drum sticks and then raced through the house, meanwhile ignoring moms yelling of "no running in the house," and then back down stairs as fast as we could for the start of the concert. As the concert went on my brothers and I were jamming away on our

Her music makes you want to leave the house, half the time they sound like they crying and depressed and I don’t like it. Some of favorite rappers are Chief Keef, Beyoncé, Lil Durk, Chris Brown, Lucci, Fetty Wap And Skooly. My life without music or any of them rappers I just named it would be totally empty. I listen to music on a daily basis and anytime of the day. Music takes away my stress sometimes and it keeps me amped and alive. When I’m on my way to school, I like listening to music to get prepared for my day and ignoring the kids on the bus. When I was younger, I probably didn’t know what music was but now I do and I love it. I like listening to feeling and songs that help you think about life and the memories. My life sounds like a lot of things, the sound of my kitten making strange noises because she doesn’t meow, the sound of my brothers chasing each other up the stairs, and the sound of my entire family having dinner at my house for a special occasion. But, those aren’t the only sounds. I have grown up in a household where music has always existed. In every car ride there was always music. That's what I remember most about my childhood, is the music that we listened too. There were memories that had nothing to do with them of course, but there are many small memories that are centered around a certain song that we'd all dance and sing to. The song itself isn't what's special, it's the memories that go along with it.…

Music can bring out emotions and forgotten memories. Music serves as a powerful cue to recall emotional memories back into awareness. We all have a ton of emotions that control how we act and what we say. Our emotions are triggered by many things. One of those things is Music. At a funeral for one of my family members a song by Whitney Houston was played. Now it is long after that day, but my mother cannot listen to Whitney Houston, because it triggers her past feelings of loneliness and sadness. Music does not always bring out hurtful memories; it actually aids you in finding what is important to you as an individual. Two people can listen to the same song and can convey two entirely dissimilar statements. Humans need music to openly express their emotions, because without it, the world becomes so bleak and dull.…

If my life were a soundtrack, then on December 5, 2001, at 4:38 am, the first song would have started being recorded. I believe that my soundtrack shows a pretty wide variety of music because my life is made up of a bunch of crazy little elements. There are a few musical theater songs in my soundtrack because I believe that the songs from these productions have the best themes of all. The theme for my life soundtrack is to be yourself and it’s based on my second favorite quote by Dr. Seuss, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out!” So, let me entertain you with my life, because if it’s not interesting, it’s at least a little bit funny.…

The music that I associate with childhood is salsa music, because my father was in a few salsa bands while I was growing up. Other music that I associated with my childhood was house music, break dancing music, Pop and dance music. My music choices just remind me of specific memories in my childhood. When I listened to salsa music this would be times when my father would pick me up for the weekend and he would have the music blaring in the car. He would also take me to his band practices or performances. I always felt good to watch my dad play percussion. This is what made me love salsa music. I relate break dancing music to memories with two of my uncles. They were professional break dancers and were even extras in a break dancing movie called “Breakin’”. My uncles would practice their moves in a Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot on cardboard boxes. My uncles would teach my brother and I some moves. I had so much fun with them. Pop music brings me back to a memory with my Abuela (Grandmother). She used to love listening to the song “Rhythm of the Night” by El DeBarge. We would sing and dance in her living room almost everyday. I correlate dance music to Diana Ross. She was my favorite singer. Kids were mean to me when I was younger and teased me about my hair. One day I saw her performing on T.V. and I said “Hey, my hair is like hers!” I was so proud that I would pretend I was her and performed her songs for my Titi (Aunt). These choices reflect great memories for me in my childhood experiences.…

Music is a key factor in my life, now and has been for as long as I remember. Music is one thing that can control my mood and emotions unlike any other. The sounds and melodies of the composition have the potential to sway my moods from a dark gloomy state all the way to a joyous and soothing harmonic atmosphere. Music allows me to control how and what I want to be, or represent. Music is almost like picking out a favorite outfit. When one picks out an outfit to wear they most likely pick an outfit that expresses them and how they are feeling at that direct moment. They have the ability to change shoes, accessories, or their hairstyle to make it appealing to their particular desires, just as one has the will to change a song on their ipod, or flip the channel on a local radio station. Recently, my life has been undergoing many changes. I am now starting to apply myself in a way that allows me to develop my potential and show forth the results as an outcome of the pursuance of fulfilling my aspirations. More than ever now I am starting to realize that “you get out of life what you put in”. Life is dependent only on “what you bring to the table”. If one tends to put in minimal effort then one should not expect to experience a great aftermath. I have chosen three songs that apply to my life right now in the stance that I am currently in. Its ironic that all of these songs are from different genres, songwriters, and generations but, they somehow tie into my life perfectly. The main theme of the “soundtrack of my life” is “overcoming obstacles and changing that are essential to the growth and the perseverance of an individual”.…

How does music make us feel? Not what do we feel when we listen to music but more specifically, what is it about Music that triggers our human emotions? What effect did hearing those sad country songs on the radio during my morning drive to school have on the rest of my day? Why does upbeat hip hop music always make me nod my head with the beat? Why does a song like “Go rest high on that mountain” by Vince Gill always make me cry? Music is a large part of most of our everyday lives. Sergei Prokofiev understood that considering the feelings and emotions of the listener was vital in the production of music, and demonstrates in “Peter and the Wolf” how musical properties can persuade us emotionally.…

Music has always been a part of us ever since the begging of time. It’s been with us threw the happy, great times and also for the not so happy bad times. We can express ourselves with music by telling a story with in the lyrics and even with the beat showing, telling how we are feeling. It can be a cheerful, carefree, joyful beat, to gloomy, mournful, blue beat, but not everyone has the same taste in music. Music it’s self is unbelievably stunning and so breathtaking.…

The next stop on my musical journey is the Rolling Stones. My mom holds a very special place in her heart for the Rolling Stones and this trait has been passed down to me. I picked the song Beast of Burden to represent our mutual love for the Rolling Stones because not only does it remind me of pleasant memories, but it is also just a feel-good song. When I went to Kindergarten I had half days so every day I could help my mom make dinner and I can still remember sitting on the counter rolling meatballs while my mom and I jammed out to her Rolling Stones tape cassettes. Beast of Burden is the type of song that takes on a life of its own because the drums and the bass provide a solid foundation and a strong tempo, while the guitars and the vocals…
