Linda Lee's The Case Against College
Linda Lee’s essay, “The Case against College” is making the argument that college is not necessary to succeed and it is not for everyone. She uses her experience with her son as an example and also includes some statistics, such as how many Americans have bachelor’s degrees or higher. Though it provides some interesting ideas to explore, the success stories are not fully explained and her son’s story does not apply to everyone. Also, there are other arguments for college that are not addressed in the essay such as requirements for certain careers, sense of accomplishment, experience gained when a student is even partially engaged, etc. Lastly, some of her arguments can be disputed.
