Letter To Saint John's College High School Community
Dear Saint John’s College High School community, Growing up in the nation’s capital has given me many opportunities to grow as a person that many people do not get. In my opinion, three things that have shaped me as a person are being an only child, given the chance to travel many places independently, and having a wide variety of hobbies. First, I believe being an only child has made me a stronger person because of the responsibilities I have and confidence within myself. As an only child, I have to be able to accomplish chores without the help of siblings, entertain myself when there are no kids my age around, and socialize with adults well. My parents have helped me become who I am by giving me chances to be around adults as well as kids my age. From being an only child, I am certain that I am a more responsible person who has the ability to socialize with everyone than if …show more content…
John’s, I will be more willing to try new clubs, sports, or opportunities that I do not feel very comfortable with or that many of my friends are not doing. I want to become very close with a variety of people at St. John’s who participate in JROTC, band, sports, clubs and other activities. I will use my confidence to try to participate in field hockey, lacrosse, ski club, entrepreneurial center and many other activities, as well as continue playing the piano at home. Also, in order to undertake all of those thoughts, I must stay organized and responsible with my studies in the Scholars program. I am extremely thrilled to become a St. John’s cadet particularly for the excellent academics and athletics, but also the wonderful school community and school spirit present throughout the school day, all the sports games, but especially, football games. I am so excited to cheer my schoolmates on and off the field. By using my responsibility, confidence, and open-mind, I believe the next four years as a St. John’s scholar will be a blast.

Thank you so much for all that you do for Howard County. Mount Hebron High School is greatly appreciative of your help in creating a better school environment. The 2,000 dollar grant has been used to create a native plant garden in the senior courtyard. We decided that native plants would be the best plan as it conserves water, time, and money. This way we could do more with the money that was graciously given. It would be our greatest honor to have you attend the Mount Hebron ribbon cutting ceremony in the early fall of 2017. You would be able to see all the effort and work that the Mount Hebron staff and students have put into this project. We thank you for your time and we really hope that you will be able to…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…

y presence on the Hillsdale campus would be both unique, and mutually beneficial. The former, embedded in my very being, would, surely, draw attention to my individual character but, would also place me within a community that, is accepting, and full of like minded, individualized students. Therefore, since I feel, socially, I will fit in nicely at Hillsdale, I plan on pursuing many student run organizations and clubs, to become a part of vibrant Hillsdale culture. In particular, there are a few clubs I have already developed an interest for. Namely, The Creative Writhing Lab, The International Club, The Lyceum, and, perhaps, even The Chess Club- although my skills would certainly need improvement to serve as a competitive opponent.…

Today I received a message in my student email about my academic progress. I was denied Financial Aid due to my poor academic performance my 2015-2016 semester at Mesa Community College. The reason for not meeting academic requirements the previous semester was because of my lack of organization with working, sports, and studying. I take full responsibility in not putting my academics before sports and work leading me to write this letter. I truly believed I could juggle working 20 hours a week as a swim instructor and also be a student-athlete for Mesa Community College while maintaining strong grades. I soon found myself struggling in classes and doing poorly on exams because I was not using my time correctly and pushing my school work to the side. In high school I worked as a swim instructor and ran cross country as I am now, I put little effort into studying and did what I had to do to get by. Those poor habits followed me into college and are now backfiring with proof through my GPA.…

I was so focused on the academic aspects of school my freshman and sophomore years’ that i wasn’t active in any of my school’s clubs or activities. I finally decided to get more involved my junior year and I joined nearly every club, participated in every activity, and even went to as many sports events as I could have. I currently am a six year member of the National Beta Club and have held the positions of Vice President of Fundraising and Senior Representative throughout my high school career. Not only am I a leader in the Beta Club, but I participate in the Trailblazer leadership program with the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance and my school’s freshman mentor program. I also joined the TRIO Upward Bound program whose ACT prep helped me to obtain a 22 as my highest ACT score at the time allowing me acceptance into my school’s ACT top 20 Club. Although it was hard with my many extracurricular activities I somehow still managed to finish my junior year with a 3.8…

When most people think about a significant experience as something like; studying abroad, taking vacations, or meeting new people. Now while I have met many types of people and traveled quite a bit, none of these experiences have been nearly as significant to me as my childhood. I lived in a small, falling apart, purple house in the heart of Bessemer that was perfect because it is all we could afford. This house and neighborhood forced me to be resourceful and it taught me that nothing in my life is going to come without hard work. Those lessons crafted me into the industrious, diligent, and determined person that I am today.…

As an infant I was very limited to what I could do; eat on my own, speak, walk, I needed help doing all these things until I could get the hang of it. The two main people that helped me in learning all those basic skills were my parents. Without them, it would have been very challenging. Even when I would start crying in the middle of the night, my parents would rock me in their arms until I felt better.…
