Leadership Self-Analysis
The activity we completed in class taught me a variety of different things in regards to leadership. When first given the task of creating a pyramid of cups and only being allowed to use the one tool we were given and not our hands seemed a bit daunting. However, after taking a moment to evaluate the task at hand is suddenly did not seem as difficult as I had initially thought. This taught me that you should not panic when given a task that seems to be overwhelming, but rather to take a few moments to think about the possible ways to encounter the task at hand. Throughout this activity, my group changed our strategy of moving the cups a few times. This taught me that in order to complete a task you may have to adapt your approach a few times until you find the way that works best. …show more content…
There is not necessarily only one leader in situations. When working with others is often works out the individuals take one leadership roles in separate tasks and the combine all of them to end with one successful product. For example, during this activity Marshall took on the initial leadership role by using the string to flip over all the cups that were on their side. I then suggested how I thought we should use the tool to stack the cups, and the other member of my group would say which cup we would grab next. Each of us took on our own leadership roles, however this activity would have been impossible if we did not combine them and work together to build the pyramid. This shows the importance communication and working together plays in successful

I learned that you don’t have to show your authority and that you don’t have to be controlling to be a good leader. To be an effective leader, you have to be able to talk to people and be able to connect to the people you are working with. Letting everyone have a say in whatever decision needs to be made is a great way to get everyone feeling empowered and important. Depending on the type of team you have and the type of people you are working with lets you know what type of leadership style to use. Since our team was very self-motivated and productive, we didn’t have to rely on the leader telling us what to do. He would let the group know what the current situation was and asked how we should go about it. This really helped us to have our own opinions and voice and it worked out well for us.…

This event encouraged members to step outside of their comfort zone and perceive leadership in a new light. The workshop followed the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 12:14 which states “For the body does not consist of one member but of many.” During this workshop, that was led by Co-Meeting Director, Alex Sommer, each group of four was challenged to build the largest tower, which was to be made of tape, paperclips, and newspaper. However, there were some very interesting restrictions placed on each member of the group of four. The first member had to be blind folded and distribute the tape, the second member had to be listening to music, and had to place the newspaper. The third member, could not talk and had to use the paperclips. The fourth and final member of the group could not use their arms. In the 10 minutes allowed, the groups were challenged to build the tallest freestanding tower with these restrictions. This led many of the members out of their comfort zone and allowed for growth as a leader and as a team member. The point of the workshop was to maximize the potential of a team, each member must be in a position for them to best succeed. As a leader, truly understanding each individual member’s talents and abilities will allow a leader to properly form a role for them. Also, instead of focusing on what the individual and the leader’s team lack, it should give the opportunity to focus on what each member excels at. It also allows individuals to embrace those who are different from yourself. Without different talents and abilities, the team will not be as successful. The members of CBL were able to walk away with a new outlook on leadership after this…

I have always found it interesting how everyone can have a different learning style. It does not mean that one person is smarter than the other, and vice versa. Everyone is completely different with how they intake information and their learning skills. My best learning skill is Kinesthetic I am more a “hands on” learner. I have always been more successful and learned better once I actually did something hands on. I can learn verbally, and visual as well but that is my best learning technique.…

I believe that I am a partial transformational leader as of right now. I currently utilize only two of the Four I’s, individualized consideration and idealized influence. To improve on the two that I currently feel that I am and to incorporate the two that I am not, intellectual stimulation and inspirational motivation, I will have to use all the principles learned in the Intermediate Leadership Experience. For me, I will mainly focus on full range of leadership development (FRLD), adaptability, the Right to Lead Assessment Model (RLAM), diagnosing, and the Cooperative Negotiation Strategy (CNS) to improve upon my leadership style.…

Leadership is the key element of the nursing profession. Every nurse performs leadership role while caring for their patients, such as providing a continuum of care, advocate for them, and educate them and the family. All these tasks need authoritative, directive, and compassionate personality. I believed that I practice Path-goal theory and Transformational leadership. The reason I choose Path-goal theory is that I believe in accomplishing goals by motivating the team and recognizing their work efforts. Furthermore, the followers need to have clear goals by coaching and directing them as well as be able to fall back on the leader to overcome the obstacles. I also believe that I fit into the transformational leadership…

The Caldwell Fellows offers an intense leadership program that will help to develop the potential for someone with leadership qualities, and I have leadership qualities. When I think of leadership, I think of such characteristics as reliability, kindness, knowledge, and a voracious drive for continued learning. With these characteristics, regardless of the situation, a person can motivate others to develop, to progress, and to attain a common goal. People who have the potential for leadership would benefit from learning techniques and getting experience in the field. Leadership development is a way for someone who has the capability of leading to advance and enrich themselves and others.…

As I write this journal, I sit in a coffee shop and feel that sitting in a coffee shop to reflect on my week is so soothing. I find that moments like this are what helps me keep sain. Moments like this are helpful to me,as I get to sit in a coffee shop and listen to my favorite music, after a long day. I admit continuing to write journals is not easy for me, as reflecting on my week can be challenging. An example, this week was good and no concerns arise. In comparison to other difficult weeks I previously had. This week I even had a hard time thinking of what to write but I push myself to complete it. I feel that this week was very calm for me, which I am so thankful for. As the past weeks were so stressful, due to having several crises…
