Leadership qualities
There are a lot of qualities a leader has, and that is what makes that person a leader in the first place. One of the most important things for me in being a leader is Honesty. The platform of any relationship, both personal and professional, is honesty. People want to work for a leader they can trust, a leader that has morals, values, and integrity. They want to work for a person that offers a great product or service they can believe in, and that has an honorable reputation. Two of the greatest leaders for me are Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King Junior. Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest Presidents to ever lead a country, and he didn’t achieve his success and earn that nickname by being dishonest. Martin Luther King fought for the rights of the black people with peaceful protest and with honesty. People want to feel good about the person they follow or look up to. it’s important to establish core values for both the people are trying to lead for good examples, and yourself as a leader, and to then live and lead by those values as an example to your employees, and also random people on a day to day basis. Without honesty it is hard for people to relate or believe in you and things you tell them. Honesty should be your main foundation and when honesty is built then people can trust and rely on you to do the right things. When things go wrong and you’re honest with people, even though you’re wrong they would understand and still support you because you were honest with them to begin with. To be a great leader you have to have people that would be there to support you and follow you. And with honesty you can be able to achieve and strive to be a great leader.

Leadership can be defined as a function of knowing yourself, having a vision that is well communicated, building trust among colleagues, and taking effective action to realize your own leadership potential. James Kouzes and Barry Posner (2002) developed a survey that asked people which characteristics of leaders they look for, admire and would willingly follow. The results of the study showed that people preferred the following characteristics: honest,…

What is a leader? According to Kouzes and Posner, leadership is “the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for a shared aspiration”, and indeed, these men go further to posit that leadership transcends a certain mode of behavior, rather, that it is an active set of skills and qualities that is clearly apparent. (Kouzes & Posner, 2012) An essential quality then, is a quality in leader that is necessary to achieving the goal of inspiring subordinates to said struggle. This essay will attempt to identify the three essential qualities of leadership from a stimulus, namely an episode of Undercover Boss. The three essential qualities that can be extrapolated from the film are competency, charisma and consistency, as these skills have been shown to inspire colleagues to action and breed trust between the leader and his or her charges, which is key to successful communication (Bordum, 2005) which is the foundation for the execution of the former.…

Two leadership qualities that I identified are the ability to gain and maintain trust and maintain a non biased stance. When I envision myself as a future leader, I see a non judgmental, even kilter, mellow, relatable, and inspiring leader. I hope to lead by example by working hard and maintaining a great attitude. I will keep the interest of the organization in mind. To do so I will need to be sure to always choose work that lines up with my personal beliefs and serves a purpose that is close to my heart. When I do work that is important to me it will be easy to display my passions which will help me to gain and maintain the trust of the people I am leading. I will continue to make an effort to understand the circumstances and decisions of others which will allow me to maintain a non…

We need to know the importance of being a leader by example. If someone wants to be a real leader, that person has to show this characteristic. Bring people up in work areas, if someone's having a hard time encourage them, affect them in a positive way. I mean think Adolf Hitler had the leader traits, but he used those skills for negative doings. Do not just speak like a positive example, but also be a positive example by showing it, do the right thing when nobody's watching, when with friends do not let them trick anyone into…

How is being feared rather than loved the superior quality that a leader should possess? Niccolò Machiavelli states in the “Qualities of the Prince” that “One should like to be both one and the other; but since it is difficult to join them together, it is much safer to be feared than to be loved” (14). Determining which of these two qualities a leader should possess has been a topic of discussion for centuries. So what makes Machiavelli’s work any different? First off, Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat and a political philosopher, who wrote about politics and power.…
