Introduction Leadership development will continue to be a key organizational issue in the future. An opportunity exists for organizations to employ the best practices explored in this paper and develop a competitive advantage through leadership. Organizations that are able to survive and compete in the ever-changing marketplace will be those that have proactively and strategically prepared themselves for future challenges through effective leadership development programs, practices, and systems (Sheri-Lynne Leskiw, 2007). It is very crucial for us to know what is leadership. We need also know the various leadership styles are there so we can choose the right leadership style that is best for the particular organization. In order to do that, we have to find the right people who has the potential to become a leader. We have to know what are the common traits that good leaders have in common so we can select those within for development and give them the chance to become a leader. Each organization also have to have a systematic approach in training the future leaders of the organization. This research paper will not focus on any specific organization but analyze at a more generalized level.

Problem Statement The objective of this research paper is to find out what is leadership and various of leadership styles. To discuss the how to select the right candidate to train and the approach of how to train and develop their leadership skills.

Research Questions

    In this research paper I have attempted to gain a deeper understanding of my skills in leadership through deep personal reflection as a result of my peers and managers feedback, and the materials learned throughout my organizational leadership course.
