laugh is the best medicine
Hello everyone! “Laughter is the best medicine”. I am partially disagreed that laughter and humour will help me to overcome challenges, heal pains, and enhance my life. Yes, it is somehow may help me to reduce a bit of my stress, but it is not totally will overcome pains and all of the challenges.
According to Harvard Health Publication by Harvard Medical School, laughter might contribute to some benefits for our health. Firstly, laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving our muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after. Secondly, laughter boosts the immune system. When we laugh, it will decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. The other benefit is laughter triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphin is the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. It promotes an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. Last but not least, laughter protects the heart, and it improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
In my opinion, it might be true that laughter is somehow helping us to handle the stress, but it is not totally overcome it. There are the other ways that I personally used to overcome problems. First of all, I will relax myself with going to shopping. My stress may be reduced after I satisfied on what I have got. Besides that, I will go to saloon, wash my hair and have a head massage. The other way to overcome my stress is by strolling along the beach. It will help me to be more calm and cool. Then, I went to meet a counselor. I will share my depression, upset, or stress to the counselor, and I believe that counselor have an idea how to help me. In addition, as a Muslim, we also have been taught to pray and ‘zikir’ in order to heal the stress. So, there are a lot of ways to enhance our life

In a study conducted by Boyle & Joss-Reid (2004), the effect of humor on health was investigated. Data was collected from a sample of 504 individuals who were divided into three groups (community group, university students, and respondents with a medical condition). RAND 36-Item Health Survey (Hays, Sherbourne & Mazel, 1993) and Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale (Thorson & Powell, 1993) was completed by the participants. Laughter is important for both human emotional and mental health and it can play a helpful and healing role in parenting and family life. The human capacity to laugh is significant and to understand our laughter is to go a long way toward understanding our humanity.
