Korean Wave
Japan-mania and Korean-waves cultural marketing had influenced many countries including Taiwan, South East Asia and some other parts in the world. Japan-mania started earlier than Korean-wave in Taiwan and other parts of the world since, Japan recovered and its economics revolution after World War II was faster and rapid than Korea. In Malaysia, in early 2000s, Japanese trendy dramas came into picture as Takuya Kimura is one of the favourite actor, which it attracted teenager’s viewers more than family. Then, Korean dramas became the most favourite television series watched by Malaysian regardless race and religion. It started with Winter Sonata, continued with Autumn in My Heart, then another hits drama from Korea, Full House haunted Malaysians with tears, emotions, tragic love and lessons.
However, the impact of Korean-wave is bigger than Japan-mania. Korean-wave conquered most of the countries, especially in Asia and now spreading their wings into South America and other parts of the world. Korean-wave is successful for the melodramatic dramas, which mainly focus on love and family matters and each drama usually recorded approximately for 16 episodes. Japan’s trendy drama usually focuses on teenagers and social problems. Particularly in drama or film, Korean actors are more masculine compared to Japanese which look younger and skinnier. But both Korean and Japanese actors are good looking. Korean actresses are womanly, sophisticated and beautiful but Japanese actresses are more cute, girlish and projecting more personalities. However, Japanese actresses usually have crooked teeth.
However, Japan-mania is superior in comic, cartoons or games. Japanese comics/manga such as Dragon Ball, Detective Conan and many more had been adapted into cartoons and they had been called “anime”. Japanese made manga, anime and video games as their industry which it spread to the whole world. The Americans, Europeans, Latinos, Asians and all races enjoyed anime or Japanese related

If a child can see it, then they believe that they can be it, and this demonstrates why the things that are being shown on TV are so important. A show that is gaining popularity and is becoming a household favorite for Asian-Americans is Fresh Off the Boat, a TV show following an Asian family that is attempting to assimilate with the mostly white population around them. It is the first American television sitcom starring an Asian-American family to air on network primetime since Margaret Cho’s All American Girl which aired in 1994 (Yoshihara). “It’s a show I’m proud to watch with my daughter, who shares my Asian-American heritage. We can laugh at some of the things that are so true from our own experience and also be satisfied that finally there is a show that takes a modern approach to what it means to be Asian-American.” (Yoshihara). The way that people as a whole make sense of who they are mainly comes from the stories they tell and consume, making what’s being watched irrevocably important. Television is a main source of seeing other cultures and how those that are different from us live and function. Everyone’s normal is different, and each “normal” needs to be recognized and…

It is evident that not all young people are resilient when it comes to dealing with life's challenges, as it was displayed in the book ‘The Wave' written by Morton Rhue. There were a majority of students who were not resilient with the wave and the challenges that emerged from it, such as Amy, Robert and David. The student that was surprisingly resilient was Laurie, who was also the main character of the story. Laurie was mentally and also physically strong at dealing with the consequences that upshot from the wave Such as the isolation from the entire school and her best friend, the break-up with her boyfriend and the discrimination and violence of being and as being an ‘outsider'.…

Much in the world today is of Japanese origin. Indeed, Japanese influence can be seen all over the world—on television, in comic books, in video games, in electronics, in the film industry, and even in music. In fact, currently, 60% of all the cartoon shows being broadcast on television the world over are from Japan. (Croal) Indeed "Japanese anime characters have established a substantial base of fans in Europe and North America" (Shuhei). Similarly, the Japanese video game industry has been very successful in the world. It has proven to have many positive effects on the world, even though many people have repeatedly tried and failed to vilify it. Perhaps one of the most important industries in modern Japan, video games have both opened up great possibility for Japan's economic future and caused the rapid spread of its culture in the world. A wave is a periodic disturbance in space and time, possibly transferring energy to or through a space-time region. Have you ever ridden a wave in the ocean? Ocean waves travel on the surface of the water. You can see them and you can feel them. As you swim through the water, you can even make your own waves. The winds cause waves on the surface of the ocean (and on lakes). The wind transfers some of its energy to the water, through friction between the air molecules and the water molecules. Stronger winds (like storm surges) cause larger waves.…

As everyone knows, Korean women are famous for their prettiness. Koreans like to look at something which are good-looking. Being famous for having lots of decent doctors who does a good plastic surgery, we can tell Koreans have high expectations on a person’s prettiness. Therefore, in most of the music videos and commercials in Korea, there tend to be lots of pretty women. In my memory, Korea is a traditional country, in the ancient times ,women tie their hair up and dress up with every body parts covered up. With long sleeves and dress, only showing their hear and hands. However, now a days, women are extremely different. Just like we have discussed last lesson, the judgment of prettiness have changed over these decades. From recent music videos and commercials in Korea, it showed that most of the women are very attractive and always wearing a short skirt. This shows their slim body, and deliberately showing everyone their long legs and almost half of their breasts. This shows they now have different perspective on women’s prettiness.…
