By having an understanding about knowledge management we are able to improve and benefit in several areas in our environment, such as better communication, fast and accessible resources, reuse ideas, avoid making the same errors twice, take advantage of elderly employee expertise, and the spread of information through communication.
Firstly, when you understand knowledge management it enables a better and faster decision making within the organization. In other words, by delivering relevant information at the time of need, a knowledge management environment can provide the basis for making good decisions. Collaboration is key to survival, and when that is understood and explored with knowledge it brings in new power, diverse opinions, and experiences. The reuse of knowledge within the company also enables the structure of the company to be based on actual experiences and practical lessons learned throughout

One of them would be the reuse of ideas, documents and expertise within the organization. Once you have developed an effective process, you want to ensure that others use the process each time a similar requirement arises. If someone has created a document that that is necessary more than once, that template should be reused in all future similar situations by anyone in the company, that way it makes the process fast and more direct. Also, older members of the organization should serve as extremely useful sources of information for new employees, that way the message of the company becomes clear and coherent throughout time. Just as recycling is good for the environment, reuse is good for organizations because it minimizes rework, prevents problems, saves time, and accelerates
