Racism is a term that is universally known in today’s society. By definition, it is “discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity.” This term also identifies with the words: Segregation, Supremacism, and Discrimination. Martin Luther King, a civil rights activist, was against the idea of racial despise. He conducted marches and presented an address known as the “I had a dream” speech. Therefore, he is known as one of the country’s greatest spokesperson for the civil right movement. Segregation is to be separated into more individual groups. During the time of segregation, colored people and white people were divided because of racism. This hate toward a race other than white was distinguished through separating activities. This is connected with racism because there was and still is a voluntary fight between the different races. White supremacy is more common than any other. This comes with the creation of the “Klu Klux Klan” which is a hate group that violently acts towards people of color. The Klu Klux Klan is a group of white hooded figures that travel around and coercively attack people of color. This is an example of White Supremacism. There is no such thing as a superior race and nothing justifies hateful actions regarding a race war. Discrimination is described as “unjust and prejudicial treatment” against other people. Racism plays a role in this because race is a big part of discrimination itself. People are discriminated against daily due to the color of their skin.
