Kim Jongun
Kim Jongun’s father, Kim Jongil, was the former military leader of North Korea. Upon
Jongil’s death in 2011, Kim Jongun was named the new military leader (“Kim”). . Jongun is taking different approaches to the public than his father. He is being more “mediagenic” by showing up to more public outings and interacting with people often (“Kim”). Jongun is also continuing many programs that his father ran, including nuclear weapons testing and other weapon testing (“Kim”). Kim Jongun is the most dangerous world leader in terms of the safety of Americans in 2015.
According to
Time Magazine
, Abu Bakr alBaghdadi is the most dangerous leader in the world. The
Washington Post referred to him as “violent, virulent, and antiAmerican” (McCoy).
Although both Baghdadi and Jongun have unknown backgrounds, Jongun has a far more mysterious and secretive background. Jongun keeps much of his life a secret. Not only does he keep general information about himself, like his age and the birth of his children, a secret, but he also keeps his plans with North Korea a secret (MacLeod). Jongun keeps all information about nuclear related shipments private (Snyder). There is also suspected weapons testing in North
Korea, but the U.S. does not know for sure (“Kim”). Because Jongun is very good at keeping information to himself, he is unpredictable. Other countries, including the U.S. never know what he is up to next.

North Korea is one of the leading countries in nuclear weapons and continues test weapons. “The government launched a longrange rocket that put a satellite in orbit. The U.S. government believes that these launches are meant to cover up work and testing on ballistic missile technology” (Snyder). Obama reached out to help some dictatorial states that would be willing to become allies and no longer adversaries. In response to Obama’s offer, North

On the first page of the report, the author presents a large North Korea government-published photograph and a series of story highlights, which effectively draw readers’ attention and interests by showing the features of North Korea. The narration begins with Jean H. Lee, who may have been the first person to tweet from North Korea, wrote, “Hello world from comms center in #Pyongyang” on her twitter. This example of twitter, which is related to the topic and draws people’s empathy of their daily life, effectively illustrates the impact of the gradually opened North Korean network.…

This example is similar to Uncle taking care of Shin in the cell for about 6 months. Also, this example shows that North Korea is evolving as a country because it accepted help from South Korea and is trying to help the hunger problem by providing food and fertilizer. Additionally, the book also says that “North Korea would’ve lost the Korean War and disappeared as a state without the help of the Chinese, who fought the United States and other western forces as a stalemate.” This example relates to Shin getting help from the old man by the Tumen River. Moreover, this example shows how North Korea evolved as a country since it got help from a country they don’t consider a friend. In the book on page 77, the author says, “The North Korean government had decided that the camp…needed a reliable source of electricity, and fast.” This example relates to how Shin had to think fast when trying to get to China without Park. Also, this example shows that government is trying to make a change and started to build a hydroelectric dam. The book also says, “The lyrics of “Song of the Winter Solstice,” which recent defectors say is the theme song of a popular program on North Korean television…” This example relates to Shin singing the song with Park even though he could get in trouble. Also, this example shows that North Korea has changed because the songs people in North Korea could sing had to honor the leaders, but this song is about companions who endure hardship and pain. Another statement the book talks about is that “It shocked him to see North Koreans going about their daily lives without having to take orders from the guards.” This example relates to Shin not taking orders when traveling to North Korea and shows how North Korea has changed because many people think that North Koreans have to take orders from…

He is “accused” of human rights violations, including torture, enslavement and forced abortions. He also instructed his soldiers near the DMZ that they were in a “quasi-state of war” and to be ready to go to war, they’ve said they would reduce Seoul to a “sea of fire.” The most recent incident when the North fired multiple artillery strikes against the South, for which the South responded with dozens of strikes. The North is said to have done it to back up the claim they were going to destroy speakers that were broadcasting anti-Pyongyang messages. A similar event happened in 2010 when the North attacked a live fire-drill the south were conducting which killed four people. The South has also had mines explode that injured two of their soldiers where one lost both legs and the other lost a leg. Since there is no official peace treaty both countries are still technically at war. The US stations over 28,000 troops in the South in case the North and their leader were to decide to invade the South…

In 1955 a United States spy plane stumbled across a large site consisting of numerous missiles being constructed along with 3 different launch areas. The immediate thought of President Eisenhower was that the Russians were planning on sending one of those in the direction of the white house, how this could be, and the cold war was technically over. Vice president Lyndon B. Johnson caused panic within the governors and generals; he said “Soon they'll be dropping bombs on us like kids dropping rocks from a freeway overpass.” Something had to be done, an invisible competition began between the soviets and the United States, and the Air force began a program Called VANGUARD scheduled to have a rocket completed for space flight by March 1958. Werner Von Braun who had already been a citizen of the United States since the day the U.S. stumbled across the Russian rockets, was working on the VANGUARD program with his fellow scientists from Germany…

Kim Jong Un is not by any means a good leader. He isn’t a good leader because he neglects his country and sets off dangerous bombs that can destroy land. As stated in the text, “his nation exploded a hydrogen bomb for the first time…” and by doing so it shows how bad of a leader he actually is (Smith, 13). Kim ordered the bomb to be set off which could have potentially damaged some of his land as well as the citizens there. Not only has he set off a bomb, but he has also neglected his citizen. “While millions have starved, the regime has spent billions on a massive army and nuclear weapons program” (Smith, 15). He has spent billions upon billions of dollars on an army to try to further his military status while he lets people starve without…

In this cartoon, I am satirizing the huge exaggeration of North Korea’s potential as a nuclear power in the world. Yes, they do have weapons, but they’re so miniscule, they’re nothing to fear. Not to mention the countless amounts of failures they’ve had while testing these weapons. Many times, they will rise a few seconds, then explode mid air. The media will then act as though this is something to fear when the missiles aren’t able to leave N. Korea itself.…

Mendoza, however, said the Philippines was not alone in having the problem of political dynasty. “We’re not the only ones with this particular phenomenon,” he said. “Let’s not beat ourselves up because of it.” Mendoza said other Asia countries have recently seen dynasties, but thin ones, holding power, as he cited the case of Thailand where a sister of deposed Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Yingluck, was voted into the post; North Korea where a son of Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un, succeeded the strongman; Rahul Gandhi of the Gandhi political dynasty eyed to be a prime minister; South Korea where the first female elected president Park Geun-hye is a daughter of former president Park Chung-hee.…
