Katrina Bogdon Analysis
Katrina Bogdon, a naturopathic doctor, works at 2B Well in Springfield and specializes in oncology. She received her bachelor degree in physics and the continued her education by attending medical school at the National College of Natural Medicine. She claims that going through the pre-med track in undergraduate school with peers that all want to be medical doctors, she was actually not discouraged from the naturopathic route. She also said that everyone wanting to be a naturopathic doctor should get a business degree because the odds of them not having to open their own private practice were very slim.

For nutrition, she claims that the anti-inflammatory diet is the best. Chronic inflammation has proven to be the cause of many serious illnesses, and this diet can play a part in keeping that inflammation down. It involves a calorie intake restriction; guide for proportions of carbohydrates, fat, protein, fiber and phytonutrients; how many vitamins and minerals are needed daily; and water consumption. She says that exercise schedules greatly vary depending on the patient, but her general recommendation is 5 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. Patients should get 7-8.5 hours of sleep each night, and be in bed by 10pm because the body gets the best quality rest from 10pm-2am. She has also found turning off and on the light at the exact same time-to the minute- every night has proven to significantly increase restfulness and focus for the next day. Social needs also vary from patient to patient but everyone should at least eat meals with their families. Making this a habit can help kids eat healthier foods, increases the kids’ abilities to “just say no”, increase the kids’ grades and decreases stress levels for everyone. For an experiment involving high school students and teachers partaking in planned schedules for nutrition, exercise, sleep, social health, happiness and spirituality, a waiver should be written to secure the well-being of the participants. The waiver should include the procedure, the alternative (to not do it), risks (common side effects may include headaches, nausea, light headedness, mood changes, irritability, bowel changes, etc.), and contact info if any issues came
