Jose Espronceda was born on March 25th, 1808, in Mondaquera. He is known as a Romantic Spanish writer. His father was in the military, so his family moved around a lot. When they moved to Madrid, he studied at the Colegio San Mateo, with his teacher, Alberto Lista. Jose's inspiration for literacy was from his teacher Alberto Lista. When he was around fifteen years old, he and some of his friends created a secret society called, Los Numatinos. Together they conspired against Ferdinand VII, and talked about wanting Rafeal del Riego to die. Because of this, he was imprisoned.
