Semester-I Question paper pattern for Compulsory English (F. Y. BA/BCom/BSc…) Total marks – 30 Duration of Time – 30 Multiple choice questions carrying one mark each. Questions based on Section I, II & III Internal assessment: 20 marks for Written test 2 Tests for 30 marks each to be conducted by the concerned teacher on Section I-IV. Total marks obtained out of 60 marks to be converted to its corresponding value out of 20 marks and submitted to the University. The answer sheets of the internal tests to be maintained for at least one year by the department.

    The FINAL LEAP: SPM 1119 MODULE 2010 is produced with the intention of providing some assistance to English Language teachers in Kedah in preparing their students for the SPM English Language Examination 2010. It grew out of the concern over the unsatisfactory performance in the subject. It aims to provide focused and selected exercises which are accompanied by sample answers and useful notes as well as examination tips. This module consists of four components namely Reading Comprehension and Summary, Literature Component (Novel), Directed Writing and Continuous Writing. These components are deliberately chosen as they carry high weightage in the examination. Each component has a number of thoughtfully selected questions. Based on their teaching and marking experiences, the panel of module developers show, explain and guide how each question should be answered. Practical and handy examination tips are also offered together with sample answers that should allow the average and weak students to score at least the minimum marks in the SPM 1119 Examination. It is the ultimate hope of the Academic Sector (Language Unit), Kedah Education Department that English Language teachers make full use of the practices in this module. Each note and examination tip should be highlighted and reinforced among the students. The Department is confident that the preparation of this module will at least lend a hand to many English Language teachers through its valuable and enriching practices. Last but not the least, the Academic Sector (Language Unit) would like to acknowledge and appreciate the immense efforts of the panel of module developers who had come up with this production.
