Johns Hopkins Hospital Case Study
The type of facility that I have chosen for this SLP is the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Johns Hopkins was born in 1795. He inherited his unusual first name from his grandfather, who was named after Johns’ great grandmother, Margaret Johns. Johns went into business for three years with a friend, and then with three of his brothers, forming a wholesale provision house called Hopkins Brothers. The firm shipped whiskey into Baltimore in exchange for staple supplies that were shipped back to Western whiskey makers. Hopkins Brothers sold the whiskey under the brand name Hopkins Best (U.S. News & World Report, 2015). Johns was to go far beyond shipping whiskey, however, as he was a genius at investing and lending. Two projects that particularly …show more content…

His will instructed that his fortune of nearly $7 million should be divided to establish The Johns Hopkins University and The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The University and Hospital seem fitting achievements for the life of Johns Hopkins. His Quaker upbringing helped him to develop a sense of charity. Johns was not able to receive the education he longed for, so he wanted to provide a University for others. Seeing the epidemics that ravaged Baltimore caused him to realize the need for a hospital. The Johns Hopkins Hospital is equally committed to its communities, providing primary care to children and families, chronic care to seniors, and a range of rehabilitation services, occupational and environmental health programs, as well as health promotion, disease prevention and home care services as well as taking a team approach to your safety (Johns Hopkins Medicine, 2015e). Provide a minimum of two examples of how this facility has responded to changing trends in healthcare. Examples of this may be new programs, cost containment strategies etc. Evidence-based design (EBD) is the process of basing decisions about the built environment on credible research to achieve the best possible outcomes. Every day, more and more healthcare facilities are remodeling and revamping their design aesthetic to coincide with evidence-based design trends and ideas.     After review the cast study regarding Southern Baptist Hospital (SBH), one can conclude that the extent to which SBH researched the need of its audience prior to developing a marketing strategy was not very far. For example, the case gives us the understanding that the public already had a decent opinion about SBH. As a result, an advertising campaign that focused sorely revamping this position would not increase value or add to the company market share. With that said it is evident that SBH had not completed adequate research or thoroughly considered the audience needs prior to developing its market plan. Moreover, the case suggests that SBH had an overall marketing plan, however the plan in my opinion, was not substantial. It is evident that the campaign was developed as quick reaction and solution to an urgent need. However goals that pertained to planning a successful marketing strategy were not properly assessed. As a result, one can clearly see that SBH did not have a significant grasp on the nature of marketing. In my opinion, SBH were oblivious to the value that a successful marketing strategy could bring to the establishment. Nevertheless, the implication of focusing marketing efforts on corporate image rather than the services the organization provides a company with the necessary tools to develop a good brand and reinforce the positioning the brand occupies in hearts of their target customer base. On the contrary, such a campaign may be unsuccessful in motivation the audience into purchasing a product or peaking their interested in company services. Thus focusing on corporate image could create passive interest, which might not translate in sales, which result into lower marketing returns.…
