The Penn State Scandal impacted many areas of the organization. From the managers not doing their part to protect those who were being abused. As a manager if an incident is reported to you it is your responsibility to make sure that the proper authority is notified, or you should at least investigate for yourself to make sure that the information that is given to you is creditable. In the case of an eyewitness account as with McQueary he did the right thing by reporting what he saw to coach Paterno. The coach felled by not reporting it directly to the police. Sandusky was not a current employee of the university he was just using their facilities (p.19).…

I have read several online articles concerning the sexual abuse cases perpetrated by Jerry Sandusky and the obvious negligence of the top four administrators (Joe Paterno, Timothy Curley, Gary Shultz, and Graham Spanier) to report Sandusky to the authorities. I always thought that Penn State was an excellent university and am surprised and shocked that such serious unethical conduct was tolerated for such a long time. (Wikipedia states that “Sandusky was indicted in 2011 on 52 counts of child molestation dating from 1994 to 2009, though the abuse may have dated as far back as the 1970s”) (1). I agree with several statements in the article…

Jerry Sandusky was arrested on November of 2011 for child molestation which started from 1994 to 2009. On February 9, 2001, Mike McQueary witnessed Jerry Sandusky in the shower with victim 2 (Petchesky, 2012). McQueary went to Joe Paterno, the famous Penn State football coach, who then informed other officials of the University. On March 19, Jack Raykovitz, president of the Second Mile, was informed of Sandusky’s behavior but no further legal actions were taken. The only action that was taken against Sandusky was to prohibit him from bringing the Second Mile children to the campus.…
