Jennie Finch Leadership Qualities
Every leader has an opportunity to shape some part of society but it is the skills and qualities they possess that determines how effective their part in society will be. Many leaders are not effective because they do not possess the right leadership qualities. A leader should be dedicated, enduring, and supportive in order to be effective in addition to many other qualities. Jennie Finch is a great example of a dedicated leader.She was born on September 3, 1980 in the United States. She is a two-time Olympic softball champion. While on the U.S.A. Olympic Softball team, she contributed to a gold medal in Athens (2004) and a silver medal in Beijing (2008). “Finch shrugs off the attention and remains committed to the principles that made her near unbeatable.”(Beech, Mark) While there are many distractions that could distract Jennie, she remains dedicated to the game. Danielle Elaine Lawrie was born on April 11, 1987 in Canada. She is a fastpitch softball pitcher, teammate, mother, and wife. Danielle is a 2010 NPF champion, 2011 and 2012 NPF regular season champion, and a 2011 All-NPF Pitcher. Being supportive is an important quality in being an effective leader because things don’t always go the desired way. Being supportive when things don’t turn out a certain way helps people look up to leaders. “She was snubbed from the All-Star team. Lawrie had to deal with a coach dismissing her talent. She responded in a respectful manner… Lawrie took pride in cheering on her teammates. Her enthusiasm carried over to this season.” (Brewer, Jerry) Even though Danielle didn’t get to play and her coach disregarded her talent she supported her team.
