The figures for fixed and variable costs for each section were derived from company records. I has been decided that at 1,000 units the variable costs could be determined and that it would also be a good point to set our volume at for analysis. In analyzing the Utah Symphony and Utah Opera merger case study, it was obvious that many factors, finances, personalities, and even the community would be involved. The wide reaching affects of a merger between these two types of organizations was eye opening. At the time of the proposed merger, the Utah Opera had a stronger financial footing and was not in danger of closing. The Utah Symphony however, was sliding down a dangerous financial slope. The organizations were structured differently in their number of employees and financial compensation packages. These differences would prove challenging in a merger and could be the basis Bill Bailey would use to oppose such a merger.…

After months of evaluation of the JCPOA I have come to the conclusion that it is a moderately successful agreement. However I do believe that the US has given up far too much in order to obtain the agreement and the current administration focus is more so on “legacy” then long term stability. What I mean is like an policy there are pros and cons, however I feel as if the long terms cons far out way the long term pro’s, the current administration will not be responsible for dealing with the long term cons, and the current administration will be credited for getting this historic and necessary plan put forth into action.…

The role of an enzyme is to catalyze a chemical reaction. Usually an enzyme increases the rate of speed of a reaction. Enzymes break down molecules in our body faster than they would normally break down without enzymes. Enzymes work at specific temperatures and pH levels. (Wolfe, 2000). For example, a stomach enzyme works better in a more acidic environment, whereas intestinal enzymes work better in a more alkaline environment. The shape of an enzyme is important to its function. Enzymes function like a lock and key. The substrate binds to the active site of the enzyme like a key into a lock. The enzyme breaks the bonds of the substrate and releases it without being consumed in the process. Substrates can also function as inhibitors, competing for the active site. (Wolfe, 2000). Sometimes one enzyme will work on one particular substrate, in other circumstances, such as with fructose, two or more enzymes work to break down a substrate so that it can be used by the body. Fructose is first broken down into fructose 1 phosphate by the enzyme fructokinase. Then fructose 1 phosphate is further broken down into dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde by the enzyme aldolase b. (Hudon-Miller, 2012). At this point, DHAP and glyceraldehyde enter the glycolysis cycle where they can be further processed into ATP, the body’s main source of energy.…

I recently left a position at a small Early Childhood Education center in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school consisted of children ranging in age of 6 weeks to 6 years. I worked there for eleven years in a variety of age groups. Most of my experience was in Preschool, with children who were three and four years old. The school was located in Point Park University located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, in one of the University’s dorm buildings and took up two floors. Each classroom was between three and four dorm rooms combined in size. The rooms were long and narrow with partial walls knocked down and converted into doorways between the rooms. Because of the classrooms being converted from individual dorm rooms to single classrooms, there were many blind spots in the room. There for, each classroom had at least two teachers spread out among the room to be able to see every child and what they were doing at all times. It was very rare that there were only two teachers per class. Many times, the classroom had two teachers, and students from the university enrolled in a work study program helping to work with fifteen to twenty students.…

Throughout many classic novels, storylines and articles, authors have used different “tools” of the English language, such as sarcasm for example, that play on the readers’ emotional or logical conclusions. Furthermore, by appealing to a reader’s emotional or logical assumptions, the author can influence their ideas and thoughts on a certain issue. In the article “If We’re Gonna Have Guns, Let’s Get ‘em Out in the Open-or Else!” authored my Mike Royko, is a prime example of how an author can influence a reader’s perception on a topic, while using sarcasm to put a twist within the article to keep the reader fully engaged. Royko uses sarcasm in a somewhat obvious way to express his view on gun control, indicating that it’s not an answer to have everyone get a gun in an attempt to wipe out crime or that everyone should reveal a gun so that anyone could stop or prevent crime; he uses examples that could personally connect to the reader, whether it be a scary situation at home or some “petty” crime they could be victims of.…
