4. Begin by looking up Chrysler’s mission or vision statement on the company’s Web site. Now answer the following question: To what extent is the culture type you identified in question 2 consistent with the accomplishment of this mission or vision? Explain.
Cisco's mission statement is: " Cisco enables people to make powerful connections whether in business, education, philanthropy, or creativity. Cisco hardware, software, and service offerings are used to create the Internet solutions that make networks possible- providing easy access to information anywhere, at anytime." This statement pointed out the external dimension of the adhocracy culture, but it does not engage the focus on flexibility.

Cisco was born from a marriage (literally and figuratively) of communication and innovation at Stanford University. While working in separate buildings, husband and wife, Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner wanted to communicate via email, but found the computer systems they were using could not communicate with one another (disparate local area protocols), so they invented a router to translate multiple computer codes and the “multi-protocol router” was born (Jamali, 2011). The Stanford team expanded beyond the university and incorporated as a networking firm in San Francisco in 1984, and one could conclude even the Cisco name came from its’ San Francisco birthplace (Jamali, 2011).…

Cisco’s major products are switches and routers. A switch is used to connect workstations within a local-area network (LAN). The switch directs data only to the destination for which it is intended, and increases the efficiency of networks by reducing traffic and the number of “collisions” of data headed in opposite directions. Routers are the devices that connect networks to other networks in a wide-area network (WAN). Switches and routers are classified along a layer 1 to layer 7 continuums in technical point of view. Cisco competes on layer 2 onwards in the switches and routers market. With the explosion of the Internet in 1990s, Cisco achieved great success in the high tech industry, from basic connectivity to high-end, multilayer intelligent service switching solutions.…
