Unit 4 Assignment
Unit 4 Assignment

1). Describe briefly the person you interviewed and why you chose this person.
The person I chose is an African American female in her late twenties. For the last few years she has been the primary wage earner for her household and spend majority of her days working. She has three children and recently married almost a year ago. I chose her to interview because she been dealing with having to play many different social statues a day.
2). Choose at least two key terms (found in the margins of the text) from Chapter 4 that explains the person’s experience with social statuses and roles. Why did you choose those two concepts? Give examples from the interview to justify your response.
The client occupied several type of status sets that showed her experience with social statuses and roles including being a worker and mother. I chose these two concepts because she played these two roles on almost a daily basis. 3). Which roles (the behaviors, responsibilities, and privileges attached to a status) would the person you interviewed like to perform less often? Which roles would they like to perform more often?
The client stated that the role she would like to perform less often is being a worker. She stated that sometimes she feels as though her job takes all of her energy which leaves her with little time to spend with her children and spouse. The role she would like to perform more often is being able to be a mother to her children. The client stated that her children are getting older and she does not want to continue to have to miss out on their activities.

What type of install is the cable going into? Is everything in a fixed position? If you have an install where items are moved around without being disconnected, using highly flexible cable is necessary. Cables in these scenarios need to be flexible to meet those demands of mobility, and also for the life of the wire so that it does not crack, break, fray or short. We had a job at a university where we moved flat panels on a track system to create different screen sizes, and for that we had to make sure the cable would meet the demand.…

I am writing to you today to talk about a hot button issue right now, and that issue is wrongful conviction. It has been 25 years since the first DNA test exonerated a convict, and back in 2009 there had been 286 people freed by DNA testing. There are a few reasons that I am writing to you about this, for starters I would like to inform you of the many reasons that wrongful convictions occur. There are people out there that are taking steps to either free the wrongfully convicted or are making sure that wrongful convictions don’t happen in the first place, I would like to inform you of things you can do to prevent wrongful convictions. Also, most of the people that are exonerated are not compensated for their years of incarceration, and this is unacceptable.…

She has the middle class values of honesty, hard work, progress, achievement and respectability (Friedman, et al., 2003). Individualism and equality are valued, but she stresses respect for God, family and elders; good grades and academic achievement above all else. Health care for the children is important to her. She utilizes her health care insurance to makes sure they have all the needed physicals, immunizations, eye and dental care recommended by their pediatrician. She has delayed her own routine health and dental care and screenings to meet work or family commitments. I explained to Lois that in a recent study a questionnaire was given at both men and women to evaluate family burdens; domestic responsibilities; the appraisal of work and family; and values involved in work-family balance. The results of this study show that, in the present economic and cultural context, assuming family burdens and domestic responsibilities increases the positive appraisal of work and family (Cantera, Cubells, Martinez & Blanch, 2009).…

The aim of the presentence investigation is to provide a timely, accurate, objective, and comprehensive report to the court. The report should have enough information to assist the court in making a fair sentencing decision and to assist corrections and community corrections officials, in managing offenders under their supervision. Intake procedures may also involve a dispute-settlement process during which the probation officer works with the defendant and the victim to resolve the complaint before sentencing. Intake duties tend to be more common for juvenile offenders than they are for adults, but all officers may eventually have to recommend to the judge the best sentencing alternative for a particular case. The needs assessment, is another area of which is the officers’ responsibility, it extends beyond the psychological needs of the client to a list of the services necessary for a successful experience on probation or parole. As for diagnosis, the psychological inventorying of the probation or parole client, may be done either formally with written tests which is done by certified psychologists or through informal arrangements, which typically depends on the observational skills of the officer. And finally supervision of sentenced probationers or released parolees is the most active stage of the probation/parole process, which involves months and even sometimes years of periodic meetings between the officer and the client and also an ongoing assessment of the success of the probation/parole achievement in each case.…
