The last jar I filled halfway. One of the full jars I filled with 12 tablespoons of sea salt and mixed it. The other full jar I left with only clear tap water. The jar that was half full I mixed in six tablespoons of sea salt. I put an egg in each jar. After I put the egg in the jar that was half full, I filled the rest with clear tap water so that the bottom half was salt water and the top half was clear tap water. I Recorded the results of each jar and took a picture of each. The jar that was only water: the egg went straight to the bottom. The jar that was all salt water: the egg floated on the top. The jar that was half salt water, half tap water: the egg submerged but stayed perfectly between the salt and tap water. If I were to do this project again in the future, I would use multiple mixtures in the water and test which substances were the most dense. Some problems could be that the amount of salt and water can vary and the size and weight of the eggs can also vary. To fix these problems, I could use the same egg for all of the mixtures. I could also do exactly the same amount of water and substances put in the…

When the experiment was finalized the vinegar solution enlarged the eggs mass. Before the vinegar solution it was 55.1 grams and after the solution it was 67.9 grams. The volume of the egg was also increased. At the beginning it was 50 mL after the solution it was 60 mL; it had a 10 mL difference. It is visible that a hypotonic solution was present. This rejects the hypothesis made. When the egg was placed in 150 mL of vinegar and left intact overnight the egg did sink to the bottom and remain that way, however, the mass was increased instead of keeping it the same, by approximately 13 grams. Furthermore, the volume was also increased it did not remain the same. By analyzing the data it can be determined that the water had a larger concentration and did not have to balance out with the vinegar. The vinegar acted in a peculiar way although it eroded the shell and took some weight off the water flowed inside the egg due to the low concentration of the vinegar.…
