iPads in School We live in the age where the world’s technology is at our fingertips. We can pull up any information instantly on the revolutionary device called the iPad. The iPad retails for around $499 so it is not cheap but, the article “LAUSD launches its drive to equip every student with iPads” discusses if paying close to one billion dollars is worth filling a school made up of mostly minorities and low income students with iPads and wireless internet. Although this plan may seem faulty, and even though iPads are not cheap I think that in this day and age it’s only right that every child has access to one. iPads will not only significantly help students learn and teachers teach but, they will help children learn how to make the most of technology and use it for the better. Theres something about the iPad that automatically is more fun and intriguing than a pen and paper. The burger restaurant Stacked eliminates waiters and allows everyone to build there burger and have it sent to there table right on a iPad, even though the same burger and price is available at The Counter. The individual and fun experience of the iPad drives more customers to Stacked rather than The Counter because its something new, its intriguing and you don’t need to rely on other people to place order for your food. The same goes for classwork, just working on an iPad and having the interactive, individual experience that is available is much more entertaining and intuitive then just jotting notes down on a paper. This does not prove the iPad can teach kids better than a standard textbook can, however iPads are perfect in low-performing schools because they really can help a child get interested in a subject in a way textbooks cannot.
