Involuntary Manslaughter In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, they both committed suicide, but something had to drive them to do it and that something is Friar Lawrence and the Nurse. Involuntary mManslaughter is the unintentional killing that results from reckless actions or an unlawful act. To be convicted of involuntary manslaughter you have to have killed someone as a result of your actions, done something with reckless disregard for human life, and know that your actions could potentially hurt somebody. In the case of Romeo and Juliet, the Friar and the Nurse are guilty of involuntary manslaughter because they meet all the conditions to be convicted of it. They both should get the same punishment because even though the Friar was more involved, when Juliet pushed the nurse away, she should have tried to get back into her life because of the threats Juliet made to her own life. The main reason they are guilty is because they could have changed the way the whole story ended but they did not see any of the signs or stop and think about what they were doing. Their punishment should be that they should be thrown in jail for however long we do it now, because the worst thing about it is that they did not fully understand that they were leading Romeo and Juliet towards suicide but they were still doing it. They should not be forgiven because it is mostly their faults.
