Neon Tube Lighting March 11, 1910
Georges Claude, a French engineer and inventor has created neon tube lighting. These tubes generate light when an electrical current is passed through rarefied gas within the tube. Claude first public demonstration of his large neon light was at the Paris Motor Show on December third through the eighteenth. Georges Claude is making a fortune selling his invention in the form of letters and words, changing the advertisement world forever. Neon lights are quickly becoming a popular fixture in outdoor advertisement and can even be seen in daylight. People are stopping and staring at the liquid signs dubbed “liquid fire”.

Furthermore, Garrett Morgan was an African-American inventor and businessman of saving lives by creating the early version of the gas mask and a new form of traffic signal (Famous African American Inventors, 2017). In 1914, the gas mask was invented and made the polluted air more breathable. In 1923, Morgan created a new form of a traffic signal by having the red, yellow and green lights that helped controlled traffic more effectively (Famous African American Inventors, 2017). Also, Otis Boykin enhanced the pacemaker and made electronic devices proficient and inexpensive such as television and computer. In 1959, Boykin created a new controller that could withstand shifts in temperature and air pressure which led electric currents to flow from…

G.A. Morgan also impacted our transportation system. Morgan patented the three-position traffic signal in the year 1923 (Lawrence, 1998). Before his invention, the traffic lights only had two settings which were red for stop and green to go. However, the quick changes caused an increase of traffic accidents at busy intersections. Morgan’s invention included three positions: stop, go and an all direction stop setting (Lawrence, 1998). This third option stopped traffic, allowing a smoother transition in traffic while allowing a safer passage for…

With the new addition of automobiles to America’s daily life, roadways were hectic and confusing. Accidents and collisions were inevitable. Travel by car was overall messy and disorganized. After watching a crash between a car and a carriage, Morgan set to work on his newest invention, the traffic light. Morgan acquired his patent for his traffic light in 1923. In regard to his patent, Morgan stated “This invention relates to traffic signals, and particularly to those which are adapted to be positioned adjacent the intersection of two or more streets and are manually operable for directing the flow of traffic... In addition, my invention contemplates the provision of a signal which may be readily and cheaply manufactured." Morgan’s traffic light included three positions: Stop, go, and a four-way stop. The four-way stop was to allow pedestrians to walk across…

current in a circuit preventing the conduction of electricity from one conductor to another.Wall switches are switches that are most commonly used in managing the light fixtures and permanent devices or equipment. Switches are connected using different methods such as three-way and four-way switches, grounded conductors and switches controlling light loads. The three-way and four-way connection method is simply used to create lights that operate using more than one switches; mostly done to change the states of light (Brain, 2009). Grounded conductors method is when the switch does not disconnect the grounded conductor of the circuit. The switches controlling light loads are supplied by a grounded general purpose circuit and are connected such that the circuit conductor is available at the switch location (NFPA, 2011). The wall switches have to be located in quickly accessible places, they have to be installed such that the highest position of the switch's center of the grip of the managing handle is never more than 2.0 m above the floor or the stand. In damp or wet locations, the switch has to enclosed in a weatherproof case or cabinet (NFPA, 2011). switches should not be installed inside tubs or shower places. The wall switches come in various shapes and designs, but they generally consist of a metal conducting plate and insulating plates to cover it. Wall switches are constructed of metal faceplates that is to be made out of ferrous metals not less than 0.76 mm in thickness or non ferrous metals not less than 1.02 mm in thickness, and the insulating face plates are made out of an insulating non combustible material not less than 2.54 mm in thickness (NFPA, 2011). The light fixtures of the place usually determines the location of the switch to help get the most efficient lighting for the place. For residential places, all the rooms light fixtures must be on a 15-amp circuit. A wall switch has to be placed near every room entry door and a receptacle has to be…

There is no evidence to support the claim that Morgan's traffic signal was ever put into service.[9][not in citation given] Despite claims on various websites[10][11][12][13][14] as well as in print[15][16] that Morgan's invention was used "throughout North America", the absence of his signal in 1920s photographs[citation needed] and news articles[citation needed] suggests[citation needed] that it was not installed in large numbers, if at all.[citation needed] Notably, it did not merit[citation needed] a single mention in the book-length historical study by Gordon M. Sessions,[17] which covers a wide variety of devices in tracing the development of traffic-control devices throughout history.…

Now we go back to the socket location to place the switch. The switch can be placed where it is most suitable for you, normally it is placed beside your door. Then, apply same process, peel wire ends for the switch. Place the wire below the screw head and make it hug the screw. Then, tighten the screw, so it holds the wire down, do the same for the other wire (a tip to note is that on the switch it does not matter which wire goes where). Lastly, screw the switch on the wall. Then, run that switch wire to the main wire that comes from the bulb and goes to the breaker box. Run the wire until it meets the main wire, it does not matter where they meet. Cut the main wire and peel all ends (by now you should have six ending wires [3 red and 3 black]). On the main wire, connect the two black wires again, screw a wire nut to them and place tape around it (that is negative power going to the bulb). Then you have 4 wires left: 2 coming from the switch (red and black) and two from the main switch (both red). Next, you connect the red wire coming from the switch to the red wire going to the breaker box and then you connect the black wire coming from the switch with the red wire that goes to the bulb. Place nuts and tape on all…
