Intro Speech
My name is Ike Egbuchulam. I was born in Livingston, NJ, then I moved to Boonton when I was 9. I am the second of four children. I have an older sister that’s 22 that recently graduated from Albright College. My two younger brothers, 15 and 17, are in their sophomore and senior years in high school. Originally when I came to Wilkes, I had been planning to go through the pre-dental program, but after some serious consideration, I switched over to business administration. Being Nigerian like I am, my parents naturally pushed me to be a doctor or a lawyer all my life, and I actually believed that I wanted to do that.
To tell you a little more about myself, I was what one would typically think about a high school jock. I played lacrosse and football at a high level. To this day, I remain very passionate about football. I was co-captain of the team my senior year. It broke my heart when I lost the only game of my varsity career in the group 1 state championship (34-1 with 2 previous group championships). Lacrosse was the major sport in the area of NJ that I lived in, and my team played at a high level against very good competition, although we never came close to a championship. Being so integral to my football team (pregame and halftime speeches), I don’t think I have a problem with public speaking. In 5 years, I plan to be working for an NFL team as a junior administrative assistant. This would be the first step in working up in the front office

This laboratory is based on a series of famous experiments that were conducted in the 1960’s along the rocky shore of Washington state, in the northwestern United States…The nine species in this laboratory’s simulated rocky intertidal area include three different algae (including one you may have eaten in a Japanese restaurant); three stationary (or “sessile”) filter-feeders; and three mobile consumers (Keystone Predator Student Workbook). In this simulation there are nine different species. The Nori Seaweed, Black Pine, Coral Weed, Mussels, Acorn Barnacles, Gooseneck Barnacles, Whelk, Chiton, and Starfish. The Nori seaweed, Black Pine, and Coral Weed are all algae, which means they live in damp environments and are plant like and have chlorophyll. Having chlorophyll they make their own food through photosynthesis, the fact they can make their own food makes them autotrophs or producers, and are the lowest on the trophic level. The Acorn barnacles, mussels, and gooseneck barnacles are the filter feeders of this environment they do not move. They are the herbivores of this environment and the primary consumers on the trophic level. The whelk, chiton, and starfish are the only mobile species in this environment. Also they are the only carnivores in the environment and are secondary consumers on the trophic level.…

I used dread the discomfort that arose from public speaking and avoided every class presentation, which to my frustration, resulted in missing exciting opportunities. During my sophomore year of high school, I chose to take a speech class to embrace speaking opportunities instead of shying away from them. The first few days of class were nerve-racking, but steadily I gained more skill and confidence in my speaking abilities. Towards the close of sophomore year, I stepped into a leadership role, despite my previous anxieties. In a 100-student mock trial, I confidently presented the opening and closing statements for the defense.…

There are people that are born without stage fright and know how to manipulate a crowd to their pleasing. For most of us, we’re not accustomed to public speaking and it takes multiple speeches to gain a sense of comfortability in front of a crowd. Now, I mentor two new Debate Club teams, including people who – like me – dreaded public speaking. This experience taught me not to regret decisions before seeing their full effects, and that the shackles that are stained with most blood and tears are those that we put on ourselves – invisible, preventing us from reaching our full potential. From this simple moment I got far more than an expressive demeanor: I became a part of a community, the Debate Club; I grew as a person, became eager to share knowledge and abilities with larger groups of people than…

I am honored to receive the 'favorite time of day' award from John Smith. My purpose today is to tell you why waking up early in the morning is my favorite time of day. Not only is it the moment I wake up to a smiling two year old, but it is also the moment my son allows me to cuddle with him without pushing away; and the moment I get to give him some kisses without him wiping them away with his hand.…

During my 18 years, I’ve learned how important family is. Your family will always be there for you no matter what. My family supports me in everything I do. All their time and money cannot express how much they love me because love is more than any of that. Love between families is a special bond of time, laughs, smiles and memories. Love is something that family doesn’t have to say to each other because we already know and I am blessed to have a family that loves me in every way possible.…
