Informative Essay On Parvovirus
Salem
Some things just are not fair. I moved down to Valdosta for school and have been living here for well over a month. I became acclimated to the hot weather and the humidity of the Valdosta sun. Today was Sunday, It’s barely the break of daylight and the morning sun rays are shining through onto my apartment wood dresser. I lay sound asleep with my beautiful girlfriend and my roommate Daniel comes barging in through my white door and messy cramped apartment saying to me and my girlfriend “Do you want a puppy”? We jump up and without a doubt say “yes”; “Well what are you waiting for? Get up and get ready to go get her” he said. As we scramble to get our bearings, my girlfriend and I are thinking the exact same thing as we struggle to put

Parvovirus is a lethal disease that has a high mortality rate. Salem had developed diarrhea, vomiting, and lethargy. Salem would throw up liquids and not eat. Salem is such a fighter with her disease. She would try so hard to drink even though it would come back up. She was so sleepy all of the time. It had only been a week and things went downhill real fast. I tried to get her help but I don’t have puppy insurance. No one would help her and all I could do is cry. I had to find help quick but I couldn’t and I had class. So I left her on her soft white pillow and blanket to rest and get better. I kissed her lifeless zombie like body before I left to my one class. Class was so slow just anxiously waiting to get out and stay with my dog and at least be there when she passed. I picked up my girlfriend and we went home to Salem. Salem died on the pillow she laid on when she arrived. She was stiff as a bone and so cold. Her legs stretched and eyes wide open. She passed a bowel movement after passing and there was a stain of where she cried before dying. The sun rays shined on her body as if puppy heaven was right there to take her. Salem our beloved puppy of eight weeks had

“Charlie, Charlie! We need you over here now, hurry up!” Yelled Madison. “Oh crap sorry, I’m coming.” I replied. I didn’t want to get up but I needed to help him, I needed to prove myself. He lay upon the stretcher still as a calm night, so peaceful yet so loud. I look at him and pray that he fights this and that he will be ok because for some reason I feel guilt, a huge pile of guilt on my shoulders. I stood back just because of a comment that I should be used to by now. His pain is all on me. I should have helped him sooner and maybe his chances at living would be higher, if…

During winter break, I obnoxiously complained, for three weeks, that my dog no longer valued me. When I walked in the door for the first time in 4 months, Cocoa ran up to me but then immediately went up to my mom, barking because her most treasured friend was finally back. The next few weeks, my dog ignored my presences, acknowledging me only when I had food. Then, on the second Saturday, my parents decided to leave for the night. I was naturally ecstatic. I thought that this meant that Cocoa would finally pay attention to me. We were inseparable before college; this would be just like the good old days. Unfortunately, as soon as my parents left, my dog followed my grandma around. Naturally, I was disappointed and I grudgingly came to the conclusion…

One day I came home from school and saw a moving truck in front of my home. The first thing I did was find my parents to ask them if we were moving. They both said yes, all of us are moving to Fresno California. I was afraid because I had lived in Modesto my entire life and was very comfortable here. I knew my way around Modesto and especially my school where I had many friends and knew the teachers well. Modesto, after all, is my hometown and now I'm transferring to a foreign place. When all of us arrived in Fresno we stayed there a couple of weeks and realized the house had a huge amount of issues such as with leaking water pipes, a broken heater and a variety of other problems. My dad said “Maybe we are not meant to live here”. Finally…

Awoken by my blaring alarm clock at its usual time, I prepared for the school day as I normally would; shrugged on my habitual polo and khakis, brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and headed for the door. However, as I dragged myself down the steps, I stumbled upon my 14 year-old Jack Russell Terrier, Nina, struggling. Dazed and confused, I investigated the situation to discover she had managed to wrap an excess string from a blanket tightly around her hind leg. Panicking, I raced to my kitchen, grabbed scissors and cut her loose. I called my parents, who were at the time caring for my dementia-stricken 94 year-old Bubbie and informed them of the recent events. My dad joined me as we rushed her to an animal hospital in attempt to salvage her leg.…

What is the Human Papillomavirus? Commonly known as HPV, it is an infection that spreads through sexual contact. There are over one hundred different types of HPV; several types cause genital warts, while other high risk strands can lead to cancer of the cervix, anus, vagina, and penis. Because HPV is often asymptomatic, many people are unaware of their infection status, and thus, their potential for transmitting the virus to a sexual partner. The significance of the Human Papillomavirus is that fifty percent of Americans who are sexually active will contract it within their lives, and at any given point there are twenty million Americans already infected with it (“By the numbers: HPV Vaccine”). Infection with HPV is a significant public health burden in the United States because of the costs for screening and treatment for cervical abnormalities, as well as costs associated with treating benign genital warts. There is a vaccine known as Gardasil that will prevent strands of HPV. The vaccine, FDA approved, is effective towards different types of HPV. Human Papillomavirus vaccines should be administered to females, who are sexually active, to fight against certain strains of the virus, such as genital warts and most importantly cervical cancer.…
