From the very beginning, Indira Gandhi was deep-rooted into a family of political background, especially with her father who was a Prime Minister named Jawaharlal Nehru. Independent and intelligent were the top qualities of Indira Gandhi, the third prime minister of India, following her father who was the first. Under difficult circumstances throughout India and various other nations, Indira Gandhi was a dominant woman in the history of India who successfully took charge as a Prime Minister, fueled with substantial amount of political knowledge/first-hand experience from Jawaharlal Nehru and one of which created peaceful resolutions within the nations of India. In June of 1984, Operation Bluestar led to the death of Bindranwale and the Golden temple swept out Sikh terrorists. When the Golden Temple was damaged, Indira Gandhi gained hate from Sikhs because of their sacred space. Because the Sikhs disliked Gandhi, she was assassinated at her house in November by her bodyguards who looked upon the negative upon the Sikh nation. In the span of her lifetime, Gandhi waged upon the title of being “statesmen” who demonstrate exceptional contributions to politic and who was prone to thrive on slogans unlike many other politicians. After her death, Gandhi’s son, Rajiv Gandhi was sworn in as the head of the Congress Party and Prime Minister. All in all, one can conclude that Gandhi held superior power in the span of her lifetime, remarkably during her time as a Prime Minister. Despite the fact that not everyone may agree on the state of emergency put forth, Gandhi changed India drastically from 1966 to 1984 when she ruled. Through the challenges a leader may endure and take on, Gandhi certainly rose to power and successfully pass by all, if not, many of them through her dominance and ability to rule as Prime Minister/ statesmen in the span of eighteen
