President Roosevelt’s speech on the duties of citizenship is a speech that asks United States citizens to be more involved in the political aspect of the country. The speech also shows the common traits that all citizens should share and it shows the difference between good citizens and bad citizens. In the second sentence of the speech President Roosevelt says, “No man can be a good citizen who is not a good husband and a good father, who is not honest in his dealings with other men and women, faithful to his friends, and fearless in the presence of his foes, who has not got a sound heart, a sound mind, and a sound body.” President Roosevelt quickly separates the role of citizenship and gives it completely to men and while doing this he sets out a basic list of things that makes a man a good citizen. A man of good morals and strong character is considered a good citizen, he must be the head of his household and he has to be a good friend to others. To Roosevelt, a man…

A good citizen does his best to do his duty to the society. He always keeps in view the interests of his society and state. I think the most important thing that a person can do for the society is that he should live an honest life. The life has become very fast and it has become almost impossible to do something for others and everyone is busy in his life. So we should be careful about our behavior with others and if we are not able to help others then at least we should not be harmful for others. We should respect each other's views, so that others respect our views. By the way, a good citizen should have no sympathy for law breaker, and we should help the state to arrest those criminal if it’s possible, moreover we must do whatever to show those criminal feel that all respectable people are against them. What’s more, we have to be intelligent interest in politics because you will know clearly about the person who’s suitable for choosing to be the future of the country, the reason he will lead…

The first and foremost quality asked of a good citizen is patriotism. He should have a genuine love for his country and should have a sense of involvement in its day to day affairs, in its economic policies and its international relationships. All this cannot be achieved overnight: it is the product of a good training and a good heritage and various other factors contribute towards patriotic feelings. The first among these is the right kind of upbringing. If a child hears only stories of betrayal and listens to a discussion of the various methods of making easy money, he is unlikely to imbibe any good qualities. The hand that rocks the cradle shapes the world. Honesty, integrity and self-respect are the qualities that can only be nurtured at home. These form the foundation of good citizenship.…

"We have to labor, and to work, and work hard, to give reality to our dreams. Those dreams are for the world, for all the nations and peoples are too closely knit together today for any one of them to imagine that it can live apart. Peace has been said to be indivisible; so is freedom, so is prosperity now, and so also is disaster in this One World that can no longer be split into isolated fragments." A true patriot should hate for wrong and love for truth. He does not sell his services for his country .He should love his country truly and selflessly.
