Impromptu Speech Feedback
Impromptu speaking is not too bad just trying to come up with a topic was a little anxiety. The feedback received was good they advised me I was very informative on my topic and my voice first was a little low, but once I got in to my speech it was better. I believe that my hardest part is dealing with certain words to pronounce and topics I do not know anything about when giving a speech. I do feel I need to improve myself more concerning making speeches. I need to put more time on my preparation before my speeches, but sometimes there is not enough time, depending on the topic. Some speeches take longer than others just depend on the speech and how long it needs to be. One thing I have learned with words I have trouble with is to draw a line between the letters to split them up when trying to say the word helps me. I have had many experiences when it comes to concerning public speaking in my past that has helped me throughout the years at the beginning I was very shy and was afraid to even talk in front of people. Since then I have done several presentations at schools and other public places like projects working with senior citizens were had to present my project in front of them and relate to the fire department, and it was also put in the local newspaper. I have also been a trainer for a few years with the company I work for that has helped me. I still get nervous when I do have to speak in front of people, afraid of forgetting what I am supposed to discuss or not saying certain words correctly. My memory is not that good sometimes especially short memory because of my disability but I try my best. Note cards are easier they are a guide to help present my speeches. I hope to learn more ways on how to give better speeches in this course and to improve my confidence.

The title of his speech is Investment insight and his purpose was to inform on small cap and large cap growth equality with their company. I went the first day, so I don’t have a recording to look at. Even though I cannot see my speech I still realized some of my strengths and weaknesses. Some of my weaknesses consisted of: bad transition words, sounding shaky within the introduction, and time. My strengths consisted of: good movement, good tone, good statistics, and good eye contact. This is the first opportunity for me to present information of any topic to my class in a while. Watching ones self speak is never exactly fun. Once again, however, I was pleasantly surprised. This time I was even happier with how I had done then I was with my first speech. I could tell with the IDEA speech that I was more calm. I wasn’t making as many nervous movements, as I did with with Grab Bag speech. I feel like my delivery was much better. While I need to continue to learn to slow down and speak more like I would in real life, my delivery was much more clear. This has a lot to do with not being as nervous. I know that I have a tendency to speak quickly, and I need to work on not sounding like I am reading from my note cards. I do feel like having note cards with me, tends to make my speeches worse. This was the easiest speech, considering that all I had to do was rant about the story I was telling. For this speech, I didn’t feel that nervous because it was something that I remember vividly and nothing could go wrong with it. Moving on to the next speech, which was the informative speech, I felt nervousness once again. The fact that we had to research everything well and make sure the sources were cited correctly, then try memorizing what we would say for 6 minutes, and aside from that remember to do the speaker’s triangle, I got anxious. Fortunately, I did not do horrible, which is what I was expecting. Continuing to the next speech, we had our persuasive speech. This speech at first seemed easy because it was similar to the informative speech in many ways. The only difference was the time limit and the PowerPoint we had to make. I have watched many speakers while in the military. There are many times that I come out of the room and I don’t remember the things that they had talked about because of the way they had put it out. It was 1 o’clock in the afternoon at the Sky Warrior Theatre where the audience was all military. It was a mandatory training that we have called Sexual Assault Prevention Response.
