Importance Of Grity
Grit is created by Angela Duckworth; it is a combination of passion and perseverance, it predicts one’s success in academics and even a society, community, family, etc. According to Duckworth, those who are grittier are more successful, by successful here, she means in the long run. Those who are gritty are always improving from their failures, they are hardworking, determined, and stick to their goals. On the other hand, those who are lack grit assume failure as a dead end and do not put much effort to achieve their goals. When it comes to me, I suppose I am gritty; I am always striving to improve and am very hardworking, I also stick to what I start, this has allowed me to take on challenges and learn.

I am not very interested in writing, I write when I have a need to write, thus I avoid writing to the last extent preventing me from taking on challenges and to learn more. I lose hope many times, which leads to losing interest and purpose. Once when I had to write a persuasive essay, I lost all hope even before starting. Since I had no interest, I ended up with no purpose, yet with all this happening in my head, I knew I still had to write it. When it comes to persuading someone, your content and organizing your points strategically is what makes a good persuasive essay, which is my weakness. Still, I wearily trudged on and tried finding my content which would hit the point and maybe persuade the reader to do what I said. Because I didn’t want to go deep, I floated in a limited mindset while writing it, causing me to not explore new ideas. This limited my essay's content, thus causing me not to get a good refined essay and grade. This example of my lack of grit prevented me from taking on the challenge and hoping I would finish it and striving to finish

Grit is the strength of character and is seen differently by everybody such as how Dr. Duckworth sees it and myself. Dr. Duckworth states in her interview with “Ted Talk” that it’s how much passion a person has, how much stamina they have in achieving their long term goal. Unlike Dr. Duckworth I believe that a person’s mindset plays a major part in grit and I also believe you have to be optimistic and have the resilience to be a gritty person. Dr.Duckworth’s article on grit discusses the importance and the differences of grit.…

The first time I experience grit was when I first went skiing for my first time at Sundown, which is a ski resort near Dubuque. At first I did not like skiing, because I would always fall, but I was determined to be a good skier. By my second time at Sundown I started to get the hang of it. By my third night I could go down all the hills in a controlled manner, then I started to really enjoy skiing. I then found out if I keep on working and try my hardest on something it will always pay off in the end. Grit made me take something I dislike, and made it into one of my favorite things to do in the winter. Today I have been skiing for over 3 years. Even after I hurt my back skiing 2 years ago, I still went back the next year.…

Grit, the display and actions of perseverance with strength, won't get you very far in life as you might think. You're not gonna have the urge to motivate yourself with ‘grittiness’ after you read what Professor Marcus Crede from Iowa State University has to say. Decide for yourself after reading this article if you concur with the Dr., and author, whose life work was devoted to the thought of grit and its repercussions, or if you side with the Professor at a college university who is in complete disbelief of this theory. Marcus Crede demotes Dr. Angela Duckworth’s life work on the study of grit, and her claim about how if you posses true grit that you are 98% more likely to succeed at anything you do. In Crede’s main point he criticizes recent studies on regarding GRIT and success. Crede states that Duckworth is responding to grit incorrectly because he is making it a bigger issue than it is. He is very dramatic on this topic. Grit is parallel to conscientiousness, according to psychologists who say it is not changeable, whereas Duckworth argues that grit is changeable versus Credes view who agrees with psychologists. Plus crede feels that a lot of the information is regurgitated or overused; for example, he states, "And it doesn't tell us anything that we don't already know." It may seem like Crede has the world against him but there are new studies that show similar beliefs as she. As in a new study that will be issued in the “Journal of Personality and Social Psychology”. Is evidence…

“Grit is that 'extra something' that separates the most successful people from the rest. It's the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality” (Bradberry). Throughout someone life series of events may occur, some of them will be good and some of them will bad, but the way people deal and react with the bad occurrences shape their characters and may lead to good events later one, meaning the amount of grit someone has can lead to how successful someone will be later in live. This can be shown by comparing the childhood, the father-son relationship, and the adulthood of two different literary characters, Joe Rantz, from the Boys in The Boat, and Amir, from The Kite Runner.…

If “Grit”, as defined as a measure of perseverance and the way to achieve a long term goal to succeed in college, then who needs family support and resources? Angela Duckworth’s theory of ‘Grit’ is based on an area of psychology research that determines how to be successful in college. Duckworth’s theory argues that having ‘Grit’ or perseverance is the main force that will pull students through to complete college. While I believe Duckworth’s theory to be useful and that having “Grit” can be key to one’s success in college completion, I do believe that it is the backbone to many other traits and outside influences important to succeed in college.…

Grit has many meanings to me. It means that you can push through when you need to most. Also, it means that you try your hardest all the time. Many people have potential but don't try hard enough to use it. You can be smart, but if you don't try, you won't go anywhere. You can be athletic, but if you don't put forth the effort to become great, you won't. This is why grit is so…
