Identity In The Pardoner's Tale
In the celebrated works, "Canterbury Stories," Geoffrey Chaucer recounts twenty-nine blessed explorers that are "on the way" to Canterbury. In transit there, the band of sacred explorers engages each other with a progression of tall stories keeping in mind the end goal to abbreviate the excursion.     Although the Pardoner deceives the public, he still confesses his sin "the very vice / [He] makes [his] living out of – avarice" (243). The Pardoner openly admits how much he values wealth over religion by "preaching" against “the very vice” – avarice.
