Title
Can you have best of both worlds?
Question
In a group of high school students, is there a correlation between relationship status and GPA?
Introduction
High school is great time for many people. You start to find yourself, meet new friends, and find love. Some parents tell their children that they don’t need to be relationship because they need to focus on school. Students in high school can’t see their boyfriends or girlfriends until homework is done. Parents sometimes even blame the students dropping because the student is thinking about their relationship. Is it really true that being in a relationship can affect a student’s GPA? I want to find out, in a group of high school students, is there a correlation between relationship status and GPA?
Statement Task
To find out this question I have conducted a survey. This survey will include:
3 questions
Are you currently dating or in a relationship with some one?
Are you a male or female?
What is your current GPA?
If the student is currently in a relationship, then I will ask them to also take the “Relationship Involvement scale” questionnaire from the Cengage Learning Website.
I will then have to analyze the surveys taken by each student.
What is the average GPA of the single high school students?
What is the average GPA of the students that are in a relationship?
Are the GPAs of male or females more influenced by relationship status?
In the group of test subjects that are in relationships, does high relationship involvement correlate with a higher or lower GPA?
Data
*All test subjects will have to bring a copy of their last report card from the 2013-2014 school year.
*Test subjects who are in a relationship will have to provide proof of them being in a relationship (calling or texting girlfriend/boyfriend or ex-girlfriend/ex-boyfriend verifying the relationship and the length of the relationship)
Personal Survey
1. Have you been in a relationship during high school?
2. How long

From graph c, there is another weak positive liner relationship between COMP scores and GPA; the correlation is 0.342; the equation of regression is GPA=0.0524047*COMP+1.8243; the slope is 0.0524047 which is positive; when the predictor variable COMP increase, the response variable GPA also weakly increase; for example, COMP scores increase by 1, the GPA will increase 0.0524047. Based on the graphs and data which I got, I think there are only a little relation among HSP, COMP scores and GPA. I can find out a student with…

Being a member of a sorority or fraternity can negatively impact your grades. Students that are members of a greek organization spend their average week going out more than once or twice, versus a student not associated with a greek house. A study done at Georgia College and State University by students doing a project having to do with finding the correlation between being a greek member and their GPA showed that, “Students not in a sorority or fraternity go out on an average 1 to 2 nights a week”, while students that are affiliated in a greek house “...go out on an average 3 to 4 nights a week” (Salleras). Although this study can’t prove that students would rather stay in and study it still shows that being a member of a sorority of…
