The image of you is still painted in my mind like a canvas painting hung in an art gallery. You bought so much joy to me that day and I will always remember you because of this. Not to mention that you always lived up to your promise of coming to see me, no matter the circumstances. The sound of your voice during every visit was enough to bring a smile to my face and to cheer me up in a circumstance which this would not have been possible…

My mom’s words really meant a lot to me, but I didn’t have time to thank her for them because the announcer was announcing the final couple of the night. I gave her a quick hug and went to meet Macy. She looked even more beautiful than she had in the store and I couldn’t think of any girl I would rather be with at that moment. We complemented each other perfectly, in looks and personalities. Macy was the only girl for me and it was pretty clear I was the only man she needed as well. We met at the top of the stairs and quickly whispered an “I love you” as the announcer began talking about our lives. By the time the announcer had finished I didn’t want it to be over, but I knew the night could only get…

Finally, the ceremony ended. I got out of my chair glad not to be sitting down any longer. I looked around for my family. We went to have lunch at a nearby restaurant. As we walked there, the small tight high heels I was wearing made my feet hurt. As we walked through the door, I heard the the quiet buzzing of people all around me. The inside of the building seemed like it was as small as the inside of a tent. As I was waiting impatiently for the food, I spotted a girl from my school who also was graduating. I wanted to say something to her, but she seemed too busy with her family. The food finally came. The food and dessert was as good as if it were brought from heaven. I finished my…

Most kids wrote about their parents or grandparents, but I chose to write about my sister Pavani Samala. Although my childish actions always got my older sister in trouble, she still told me she loved me. My sister has been on my board of directors since I was three years old. Ever since I could communicate with her, she has provided me with honest feedback about my actions and thoughts. If something ever bothered me and I could not tell my parents, I went to my sister first. If I behaved rudely as a child, she would pull me aside and tell me to imagine what the other person was feeling. No matter how hard it is to hear, my sister’s honesty prevails. Because my sister’s graduation will take place in a couple of weeks, I have spent the past year reminding her that she is one of the most influential people in my life and if she ever needs help, I will try to be the person she was to me. Although my mother and sister have similar personalities, her age often allows her to encourage me in different ways than my…

“ Sisters function as safety nets in a chaotic world simply by being there for each other.” –Carol Saline. My sister, Marissa, is the most intelligent and brutally honest person I will ever know. She’s 5’1 and scared of eyeballs, but university level Chemistry doesn’t stand a chance against her. Her persona influenced me to speak my mind and not let people take advantage of me. I was thinking about everything that happened last year and I thought about when my sister got married. I personally hated her fiancé; well actually I've always loathed that word fiancé. It makes me think of size eight posh spice look-alikes and huge diamond rings worth more than a small country. Courtney planned everything; she made me go over her hair do plans for me, my mother and the twenty-six bridesmaids! I remember in the car on the way home she planned the eight-layer cake and a full lilac colour scheme. The word boring came to mind when I started to drift into la la land. By the time I came back to the real world, Courtney had worked out all the hymns, seating arrangements and decided that she wanted pink sweets to be handed round for the guests to choke on. My sisters wedding had taken over eighteen months to plan, which made me think of what my wedding would be like or if I would remain permanently single.…
