Hi my name is Cecilia Mairea Bjorn, funny name for a German girl right, I am eleven years old today, that means it’s my birthday and my best friend Angie Lofkin is coming over for my birthday party. We’ve been best friends for eleven years now so our whole life we’ve always spent our birthday’s together. I can’t imagen a life without him; he is such a great friend and I know when we are old he will be right by my side at my death bed. I’ll have many guest and a gigantic cake I hope; my birthday party is starting now and all my guests are here, well almost, Angie’s almost always late. I had a great time with my friends today but now since the party’s over it’s time for dinner with the Lofkins. Mrs. Lofkin is the best cook you will ever meet. …show more content…
New men started to come this time and there was no reason to fear them; they weren’t scary whatsoever; they were extremely nice to everyone in hiding as they were helping us to be safer. Men started shooting at us and a few of the American soldiers (is what they said they were) and two people in hiding my dad and aunt Diane. Once we were safe I just couldn’t stop thinking about why my own people, Germans, were doing this to the Jews what did they do to them I thought over and over again. How could those Nazi’s think it’s okay for them to take another person’s life let alone someone who did nothing to them, they’re murders! They’re all cold blooded, selfish, completely evil MURDERS!!! I just couldn’t stand what I was seeing and hearing I was so disgusted at them and myself for being a German. Finally, it was over, the war was finally over; we were safe again. After this the Lofkins and the Bjorn’s decided to move to America and ever since then everything has been just great; Angie and I are both married and have kids and grandkids now.     I was sitting with my family at the breakfast table drinking milk and eating a piece of burnt toast; that was when I heard the feint sound of sirens coming from the east end of the block. My dads face grew pale and my mother quickly stood up and grabbed my brother and mines hand. She guided us towards the back of the house through a small opening in the floor. Once we reached the hole, she took my brothers hand and placed it in mine, telling him to watch over me. We were put into the hole and she kissed our heads, then covered the little light we had with a rug. I started to panic, unaware of the destruction and persecution that lay before me on a silver platter. We spent a week in that ditch, although it had felt like a lifetime. All the while, I thought of my parents: where had they gone; would they soon return? One day while we were there, with cramps building up in my legs, I heard footsteps coming from above my head. My brother hoping it was our parents returning to save us from the forever darkness that we faced slid the rug over and peered up with squinting eyes.     German troops started entering Lidice by the hundreds, we had never seen this before. The Gestapo started ransacking our house and looking for anything suspicious. Then they just left, nobody said anything. everyone was confused, Why would they just leave like that? If only i had known that they didn't leave they were only waiting.     The day of Kristallnacht, or The Night of Broken Glass, I remember overhearing my parents discussing quietly in the kitchen the rumors going around that the Nazi’s had planned a raid on all Jewish businesses across Germany.
