Humorous Feature
We all have dreams. As humans, with a melodramatic music background, that's an essential. Lucky are those who've known theirs early because it'll take a hard work and lots of time to achieve one. Well, if you ask me what mine is, you might laugh at me and think I've lost my mind. My friend, it took a lot of guts and a bit of insanity to step out of my comfort zone just to sprinkle some hope to my dream that I'd be flattered if you think I'm crazy.
I was born with a silver spoon. My future's been decided and planned out for me even before I started walking. I am destined to conquer kingdoms as I ride my majestic horse with my sidekick. I was born to be a king. Okay, cut the music now. That was just for the theatricality. What I meant to say was my father's a business tycoon and he wants me to take over our company when he retires. But did my father ask me what I want? Yes, the answer is no.
I don't really want to be the rebel type and all but, hey, that didn't stop me to do something for myself. "I don't want to be just another piece to their games." Yes, our dear friend, Gale Hawthorne, said that in the Hunger Games. Great movie, by the way. But back to my story, I want to make my parents proud as much as I want to take that big leap of faith to pursue my dream. The moment I saw the mural painted on the walls of I can't really remember where, I've known what I want to achieve, I've known right then and there that my dream has been born and I've sworn to that mural I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Art is my passion and not numbers and statistics. Rid me of the technicalities and hand me a pencil, or a paintbrush and some paints of course. It might not make me famous or wealthy, but that's life's irony. I don't want to be either of those. Please don't tell me that I don't know what I'm saying because first of all, I've experienced being rich and popular and I am nowhere close to happy. You can even check paragraph two to

    1. a) The topic of dreams is certainly a complex and interesting subject to further investigate, having many different aspects and meanings to it. There are many theories and ideologies regarding why dreams occur in the first place, such as wish fulfillment theory, activation synthesis theory, as well as cognitive development, information processing, and physiological function. Freud suggested wish fulfillment theory, and it refers to the belief that dreams provide a sort of psychic protection gate to dismiss unacceptable feelings that one may feel. Dreams have manifest content as well, that also have symbolic feelings, (latent content) which further signify unacceptable feelings. (For example, if one dreams about an accident at sea, that would potentially symbolize a fear of a relationship break-up.) Activation synthesis theory proposes that the brain engages itself in a lot of random neural activity, and dreams make sense of these actions. Cognitive development, which is a theory argued by many researchers, which saids that we dream in order to further mature our brain and cognitive abilities. Information processing assumes that dreams sift through our daily recollections and occurrences in order to put it in our memories. Lastly, physiological functions states that dreams supply the brain with periodic stimulation to instigate and preserve neural pathways, as a result of the neural systems quickly developing and requiring more sleep in conclusion.…

The Arts have called my name for as long as I can remember. As a child, I dabbled in any intensively creative and performative thing that was in the immediate vicinity. I would go around telling all my peers that when I grew up, I was going to have any one of a number of extravagant careers: I would promise to become a famous actress on Monday, declare myself a world-class musician on Wednesday and swear to grow to be a best-selling novelist by Friday. The Arts, and all they encompassed, were my first love. It only seemed natural to me, like eating or blinking, that my life should be dedicated to the very thing that made me the happiest. I finally took my ambitions to heart my first year of high school, where I eagerly sought out beginning…

“You’ll never make it,” they all said, my boyfriend, family, teachers, and friends. It was like my life was already figured out for me, as if I didn’t have a say. The message was loud and clear. They all expected me to fail, to settle for a minimum wage paying job, to settle for just a high school diploma. For a while I went around believing that all I could do was the minimum required. But then I realized that I was capable of doing so much more. As time went on I realized that I did not have to live up to other’s low expectations and I started making a name for myself. I knew that studying a little harder for every test, joining clubs, volunteering, and running for leadership positions would later pay off.…

It was hard feeling like something was holding me back. I have been lucky enough to travel through all my life, I had stayed long periods of time away from my family, I was one of the most academically successful students in my school, and I could speak English a lot better than almost anyone I knew back home. So why was I not leaving when my parents were also giving me options to do so? I just wasn’t sure about which path I should take in order to achieve my dreams. Most people I know would go to universities to figure out what they wanted to do in life and I knew exactly what I wanted. But I thought that it’s impossible to teach someone how to be a successful artist. As I felt this way, I was second guessing myself on whether or not it was worth the trouble to study for years abroad and still have to find a way to launch my career. All of these uncertainties have passed as I realized even when I was doubting my decisions I was only wasting my time and confusing myself. I wasn’t going to wait for a miracle to happen so that I could become a greatly acknowledged…
