Human Service
The human services field is simply amazing. While attending elementary high school the teachers would all ask the students “what do you want to be when you up”? I was really shy and would never speak up when asked this question. To myself I’m thinking I want to be a nurse. Taking care of my great grandmother really opened my eyes to the needs of people in general.
During this time I would go about my daily norm of helping my great grandmother, grandmother; anyone that was in need of help. Coming from a big family there were several cousins, one in particular was different. She walked with assistive devices. We were very close and she always would look for me when coming to my great-grandmother home. That would be my first experience with the elderly, intellectually disabled, and handicap population. It is accurate of the saying that your childhood shape who you become as an adult.
Completing high school I immediately enrolled into a Certified Nursing Assistant course. For several weeks I attempted to complete the course; however I knew in my heart that it really wasn’t satisfying. Witnessing the sickness and isolation some of the elderly would experience broke my heart. During this time I would go about my daily norm of helping my great grandmother, grandmother; anyone that was in need of help. There was a local agency that I thought would be cool to have a job there. Applying for the job initially I didn’t receive an interview therefore I applied a second time and that was the beginning of defining my purpose. I was chosen for the job and was very excited to begin employment. The first day was exciting, however it was not what I expected which was appositive. In the facility there was an adult day care, afterschool program, and a day program for adults who were intellectually disabled.
Human development is important and often things do not develop as they should. The human service area that I definitely would like to further pursue is adults

There are many aspects of health care that intrigue me. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse; unfortunately it is very difficult to get into the program. However, if I ever go back to do that, I would want to either do labor and delivery or pediatrics. I have had the privilege of witnessing the birth of one of my nieces and it was the most amazing experience. To be a nurse and being a part of that on a daily basis would be awesome. I also have an extra soft spot for children, which is why pediatrics would also be of interest to me. Life threatening diseases do not only affect adults. I feel that being able to help children would only be helping our future.…

The four major themes of human services are problems in living; human beings not being able to meet their own needs all the time. I believe that working for a religious based organization should allow a human services worker to learn that it is ok to work and serve people with different religious beliefs and the ultimate goal should be the clients well-being not his/her conversion. In my opinion, the role of a human service is to help clients in any possible way and this service should not be compromised by forcing or getting religion involved.…

I was able to work within a nursing home, drug court, and social services. All agencies are a bit different from each other and have developed at different rates. Growing up in a small, rural town you come to know people on a very personal level. You share in their joy, their sorrow, and their struggles. Watching people who played significant roles in my life suffer because they did not get the help the needed impacted my life greatly. Observing the roles of several different healthcare professionals, I quickly came to the realization that patients in rural areas do not always receive the support they need. It wasn’t until I observed an Occupational Therapist working with my grandmother after she had a stroke that my perspective changed. In the context of human service words sometimes take different meanings. A problem specifies the term that must be used in the eligibility rules determining who is and who is not entitled to benefits or services and specifies the general goals to be achieved. A good example of this would be determined if someone was eligible for Medicaid or needed another insurance program. A policy typically described as a principle or rule to guide decisions and achieve rational outcomes. The regulation of the practice of abortions would be a type of policy one might look into. A program is a plan of action to accomplish a specified end. This is very critical because the public and the individual legislator need to know what the interest of the group truly is. A new law being passed in the human service field would definatly be a good example of this (Chambers).…

As a student of management, apart from theoretical studies we need to get a deeper insight into the practical aspects of those theories by working as a part of organization during our summer training. So this training has high importance as to know, how both the aspects are applied together. The study of management acquires most crucial position in the business administration.
