How To Write A Short Story: Tilepatheia's Journey
On the way to the Underworld, Tilepatheia was really beating herself up. She thought, Could Demeter be right? Am I really too weak to defeat Hades? Oh I shouldn’t have done this! She’s right I can’t beat him…
“Tilepatheia! We’ve arrived. Quit daydreaming. We need a plan,” Chaothinia said. “We should just go in there and fight him! We should prove your mother wrong! We should prove to her that we are strong enough, and that we can defeat him!” Tilepatheia shouted. They charged into Hades’ palace and demanded that he give them Persephone and Aura. Hades only chuckled at their request, “Tsk, tsk. You two really think you can come into my home and tell me what to do? There was a long hallway with one big door. I didn’t get to check that one. We should go there first,” Chaothinia suggested.
As they were looking, they could hear the fights between Zeus and Hades, and Apollo and Cerberus. They found the door, but it was locked. However, it wasn’t locked with a key. It was locked with a spell. They had to solve a riddle to open the door.
Riddle: What walks on 4 legs when it is morning, on 2 legs at noon and on 3 legs in the evening?
“Chaothinia, did you get this far? How do we open this door?” questioned Tilepatheia.
“No, I didn’t get this far, but I’m sure the answer will be simple,” she was trying to reassure Tilepatheia. She honestly had no idea what the answer was. The riddle was so confusing, but it sounded familiar.
“Wait a minute, think about this question. ‘Four legs in the morning, two legs in the noon, and three legs in the evening,’ I think I understand this riddle!” she screamed in excitement.
“Well, what is the answer?” Chaothinia asked.
“On four legs, you are a child crawling, on two you are an adult, and on three, you are an old man with a cane!” she replied.
The door slid open, revealing both Persephone and Aura. They looked up and started to cry tears of joy.
“Thank you! Thank you so much for saving us!” Persephone …show more content…
When they appeared, they all went home. Aura went back to her normal life and continued to make the wind blow. Demeter was so happy to have her daughter back. She thanked Tilepatheia and apologized for being so harsh in the beginning. Chaothinia and Persephone go home to Demeter and rejoice. They were so happy to be reunited again. Zeus congratulates Tilepatheia for being so brave, even though Demeter didn’t believe in her. He said it was important to never give up, and to always fight for what you believe in. She cherished this advice and continued to help others
