How to Put Together a Desktop Computer Tower
As a teenager I was always fond of computer. I built my first desktop computer in 2009 when I was able to afford purchasing all the components myself. In March of 2012 my desktop had a power surge and short-circuited the motherboard, rendering the rest of the components useless. I tore apart the desktop tower and inspected all my components to see what would be reusable. The power supply, video card, CD optical drive, and hard drive could all be salvaged. I placed all the salvaged components in an anti-static bag and stored them in a dry and relatively cool area in my closet. Once I knew what components and new hardware I would need I began researching all the new products in the market. I realized my once top of the line components were outdated but, being poor I had to make due with my salvaged parts. The list of components needed was concise, but rather expensive. I needed a new motherboard, central processing unit, processor cooler, and a new desktop computer tower case. I had to wait and save another paycheck to buy all the necessary components. As soon as all my components arrived I cleared approximately a five by five foot flat surface in my living room and laid all my components down in their boxes. I first unboxed my tower case and read the manual of its capabilities and how its fans are set up. I then opened all the rest of the boxes and laid out each component. Inspection of each component is a must at this point. If you’re able to find damage before you put your computer together it’ll save you the time of disassembling your computer once you’ve found out something has malfunctioned. If you’re lucky like I was you will not have any damaged parts and you can continue to assemble your computer rig. The first step to assembling the computer is to install your central processing unit. In my case, I had to install both the central processing unit and the processor cooler on the motherboard before mounting it in the tower case. Once that was installed I

Desktops are at the maturity/declining stage in their life cycle. The invention of laptops, tablets, and touch screen computers have drastically decreased the demand of desktops. Rather than pile more money into a service that may increasingly decline in the next few years, we have decided to cut back on manufacturing desktops. Our focus will be more towards laptops,…

Our research indicated that over the past few years the amount of complaints Dell has received regarding faulty manufacturing and shortened life spans for their computers has been continuously growing; so we decided to focus our analysis on determining how to improve on Dell’s quality without diminishing their industry-renowned built-to-order process which is based upon speed and efficiency. Dell’s recent losses are a result of decreased quality and these have subsequently created a lack of trust in Dell’s brand. We set out to not only determine specifically what hardware or software issues these errors can be attributed to; but also in…

My initial design was a portable laptop targeted for the Travelers market with Office software, high speed, high capacity, all software except games, and an expanded keyboard. I then realized that Travelers market was too small of a market to run after, so instead, I targeted Mercedes. Going after the Mercedes market meant that there needed to be a design change specifically aimed to their needs. I then discontinued the laptop design and turned it into a desktop with all of the upgraded components except the 19” monitor and games software at a component cost of $1,419. I assumed having all of the…

    Overclocking a Processor

Overclocking a processor What is overclocking? It is a procedure of increasing your PCs performance by increasing your CPUs/RAMs/Southbridge’s/Northbridge’s/GPUs clock and multiplier (only CPU and RAM) and voltage. In this text I am gonna explain you how can you overclock your CPU and RAM. About others I will maybe explain you some other time. Why would anyone want to overclock (OC) a processor? Because it increases computers performance. But it also increases CPU-s temperature, so it needs a better cooler. Not every motherboard is enabled for OC. So you need a motherboard that is enabled for OC. Heat also needs to get out of a computer, so you need at least 2 extra ventilator for case, and a case should be clean, and it should have a lot of extra room so the hot air could go out of the case. If you decide to OC you will also need more power because higher clocks of your processor take more power. So, you need also a better power supply. All this should be telling you that OC is an expensive, but not really. If you have an old PC just buy a new one. If u can’t afford yourself to buy components that are more expensive than ones that u would buy if you weren't planning to OC, don't even OC. What should you know before you start OC or buying components? 1. If you are not careful, your CPU could start burning, and then it will be no good any more. You will also loose your warranty. 2. Your PC will be hot from inside, and when its summer or a hot day your PC might be overheated, so you will need to lower your CPU-s clock 3. There are differences between OC-ing an Intel and AMD processor, so check which companies product you have, and go to the correct paragraph 4. There is a cooler which you get with processor in its box. It’s not for OC. You will have to buy a better one. I recommend you Scythe Mugen 2, or Thermaltake 120 Extreme Black Edition, but for the second one I recommend you to buy at least 1 ventilator and install it onto the cooler INTEL I am assuming you…

Currently I provide consulting, maintenance and educational services to clients over the phone, via email, remote connections and home visits. Consulting is what I believe I do best. Assessing someones computer needs is not easy. In most cases people do not even really know what their own needs are. I have found myself quite busy working with the Baby Boomers as they look at generation’s X and Y adaptation of new technology. Nearly nine times out of 10 a new client will be making the switch from a Windows or Mac based system to a Linux based system. This alone will save the client anywhere from one hundred to five hundred dollars per computer. It is also cheaper to build a computer than it is to buy This is because when a manufacturer puts out a new system they have to play the business game to get parts followed by time being put into making the chosen hardware work better with the software the manufacturer has a bulk licensing agreement with with.…

I remember the day well when I was first introduced to computers.
