How To Practice Double Standards
In the news, I think it is simple to accuse someone of practicing double standards just because you detest them. In my opinion two reasons practicing doubles standards are if you detest someone you may be choice to practice double standards and if you disrespectful moral and ethic in law you may be practicing double standards. First, if you detest someone you may be choice to practicing double standards because if you detest someone, your opinion of them is not going to be very flattering. It would be easy to have a bias against them and be more difficult to have a balanced view. Therefore it would be simpler to accuse them of double standards on the basis of detesting them.
Next, if you not respect to moral and ethic in law you may be practicing

According to Merriam-Webster, The definition of a double standard is a set of principles that applies differently and usually more rigorously to one group of people or circumstances than to another; especially: a code of morals that applies more severe standards of sexual behavior to women than to men. It’s ironic to me that the definition contains the example of sexual behavior. In Kate Chopin’s story The Storm I see her writing supporting women’s rights and also an example of double standards. Double standards are a huge debate in todays’ society, especially when it comes to sexual behavior. Men and women are biased differently when it comes to number of sexual partners and…

Do you have a pet peeve? If so, what is it? Is it that of people talking on their cell phone while in the checkout line in a grocery store? Or, drivers not using their blinkers while changing lanes? Well, one of my biggest pet peeves is double standards or hypocrites. It really bothers me when people say one thing and with their actions do the exact opposite. In the book King Leopold’s Ghost, there are three characters that display the most hypocrisy, King Leopold, Henry Morton Stanley and Colonel George Washington Williams.…

In todays society people tend to stereotype others in many ways. The media has created a misconception on humanity that has spread among society. News, Internet and other sources of information have created a negative view on certain people in the world. The negative thing has to do with the different ethnic groups, social class, etc. Others don’t realize that stereotyping has negative effects on those experiencing it. “Instead of being presented with stereotypes by age, sex, color, class, or religion, children must have the opportunity to learn that within each range, some people are loathsome and some are delightful.” (Mead). This quote works great with the topic of stereotyping. It explains that you shouldn’t go by what others have made people to look like; you should get to know them because you never really know who they are until you meet them. The misconception of the media and others would be one of the main reasons why the Walls family would be judged.…

Double Standard. The dictionary loosely defines a double standard as a when two different groups of people get treated different ways. A double standard is usually applied to a majority vs minority group of people. Usually, the minority is treated unfairly or unjustly by the majority size, because they have the advantage. When I went to a football game four years ago, I believe I was the victim of a minority double standard issue and was deprived of my personal liberties.…

Averting your eyes away from something is easier said than done. When we drive down the road and see an accident, our natural instinct – as macabre as it may be- is to take a peek at the carnage. The average person will see the accident, stare perhaps for a couple more seconds then they should, and then continue on with their lives. When we see an accident on the side of the road, we may be exposing ourselves to sights or sounds that we would rather not see or hear. When we go on the internet, we may run into websites that contain content that we find abhorrent and then quickly leave the website, hopefully to never see such things again. However, what happens when our eyes are not averted from this abhorrent content, but drawn? There are hundreds…

I think you could find a case for a lot of these examinations could relate to these songs, but the one that really stood out to be was the “sexual double standard,” along with “sexual objectification.” The reason for believing this, is because in the song “Dear Future Husband,” Megan Trainor says “Dear future husband, If you wanna get that special lovin’ Tell me I'm beautiful each and every night.” basically saying the only way you’re going to be able to get anything, is if you do that. She is making herself into a sexual object towards her future husband and selling off what he likes, to get what she wants. I personally think reinforce norms within our society. By doing this, she is just doing what culture seems to be “okay with” by not “selling…
