how to be successful in a job interview?
Well, we all know that it is hard these days to find a job, and on top of that, it’s even harder to know the rights and wrongs when it comes to what you should do to a job interview. Here are some tips and strategies to help you get the career you really want.
An old saying has it that to be well prepared is half the victory, which means company research should always be your first step. Gathering background information on employers, such as the company’s size, history, main products and services, the names of top executives and current news, is a crucial element in successful interview preparation. Because you may need to answer the questions like “What do you know about our company?” or “Why do you want to work here?” Knowing as much as possible about the company’s past performance and future plans can make your interview more interactive. The next step you ought to do is practicing answering questions. List your skills, talents and experiences that directly apply to this opportunity, as well as any related hobbies, so you can tell the interviewer about what you can do.
After having all these homework done, you finally make it to the interview stage. So what should you do? It’s a big day! Firstly, arrive early, about 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled time, then make a short trip to the rest room to check your hair, teeth and makeup. During the interview, maintain a positive attitude no matter how you think the interview is going, because your interviewer will be thinking about what it would be like to work with you and they sure like to see someone who enjoy the challenge and is enthusiastic. When it comes to answering questions, above all, just be honest. You don’t have to offer negative information, but be sure you don’t lie if asked directly. And body language is also important as it is not only what you say, but how you say it. Trying to maintain good eye contact with your interviewer is the best way to show your confidence. Well, then at the end of the interview, remember to thank the interviewer for the time they spent with you and ask for business card.
The last part of a successful interview which most candidates forget about is sending a follow-up or thank you letter to your interviewer after the interview. You can express your thanks again for the interview and restate your interest in the position. You can even answer a question you may have missed during the interview.
