Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was one of Italy greatest composers but he had never earned the reputation that he deserved to have during his lifetime. Not only he was a great violinist, a concertmaster, and a teacher; he was also known as an extraordinary composer with his significant contributions to the concerto’s development such as Stabat Mater, Magnificant, Gloria and The Four Seasons, his most popular work. Throughout the article Discovering the Rediscovery of Antonio Vivaldi by Miles Dayton Fish, we can see the progress of rediscovering one of the most iconic symbol of classical music and how they were able to bring him closer to the public after almost 200 years that had been forgotten.…
Some people consider it vulgar and others romantic. Liszt most famous achievement during the time he was here was the creation of the symphonic poem, this was a type of orchestral musical piece that illustrates a poem, story, a painting or anything unmusical. This symphonic poem is not a song but is does come close to music and drama. For the next ten years his works found their way into the concert halls of Europe and this won him a greater list of followers.…
Berlioz’s career began in 1830 with his famous composition of Symphonie fantastique and composers such as Franz Liszt and Niccolò Paganini agreed that Berlioz was indeed the true successor to Beethoven (Holoman, 1). Berlioz desired to be remembered for his limitless love of art and for his faithfulness to compose music that unified him as a composer, conductor and a music critic (Holoman, 2). According to D. Kern Holoman in his book Berlioz, Berlioz was often found quietly weeping, after a concert of his work, over the beauty he had just heard, overwhelmed by music’s power over the spirit (Holoman, 8).…
Beethoven’s masterwork, while the definitive choral symphony, was not his first attempt at using the human voice on a par with orchestral instruments. 1808’s Choral Fantasy (Op. 80), though on a more modest scale than the Ninth Symphony, was the composer’s first successful introduction of the voice in a large scale orchestral composition. Beethoven’s defiantly inventive departure marked a new and daring chapter in the further development of the symphonic form. And perhaps no other work has had such singular and fruitful influence on successive generations of musicians. Divers composers, impelled by Beethoven’s example, would later craft their own “choral” symphonies: Berlioz, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Mahler, and Shostakovitch, to name a few. Even so, examples such as Gustav Mahler’s massive “Symphony of a Thousand” arguably fail to rival the emotional resonance and transformative power of Beethoven’s Ninth which so moved its earliest audiences and which, in our own time, continues to speak to masses of men the world over.…

Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer who passed away before his 32nd birthday, but was also a prolific composer during his lifespan. His achievements consists of seven symphonies, over six hundred vocal works, sacred music, operas, and a large quantity of chamber and piano music. The admiration of his music while he was alive was limited to a relatively small crowd of admirers in Vienna, but interest in his work grew significantly in the years following his death even up until today. Today, Schubert is ranked among one of the greatest composers of the late Classical and early Romantic era and is among the most regularly performed composers from the nineteenth century.…

Clara Schumann was also one of the very first pianists to play a pice from memory, without any notepaper. She is a totally underrated person, as pianist and composer. It is always said, Clara was the wife of Robert Schumann, but actually, it should be Robert, who was the husband of Clara Schumann, because Clara was much more famous than Robert and earned a lot more money. Women are not just „the wife of…“, they are mch more, people just only want to see it like that, because women are just there to raise children, cook and do laundry. You do not want a women to be intelligent and invent things. This way of thinking did not change…

As social and political views changed throughout history, a revolution in the art world followed. Artists use their pieces to explain their point of view, this includes writers, painters, and especially musicians. The end of the French Revolution inspired hope and visions for the future, which musicians responded by entering the Romantic period. In order to compare musicians in the Romantic period and those in the modern era, we must look into the stylistic choices of individual composers.…
Bowing separately to the audience in the sold-out hall and in the stage seats with very deliberate and studied manner at each entry and exit, they struck as dignified and remote powerful figures. Starting to play almost as soon as he sat down, Osorio was thoroughly absorbed in his own, exalted world. His technical command of the instrument was astounding. They played Franz Liszt “Concertos No. 2”, this piece was amazing – intense octave runs, slight figuration, a perfectly balanced and transparent fugal section, all integrated into an organic…
Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert are some of the greatest and most known classical composers of all time. Most people have at least heard of them, and most of them have likely heard some of their music as well. Research has shown that listening to classical music have been proven to reduce stress and anxiety and therefore put people in a calmer and happier state of mind and body. It also helps people retain information as they study. Even if the person is not consciously listening to or paying attention to the music, their subconscious picks it up and reduces anxiety and even depression. I believe that music does help people; some more than others; study and stay focused while doing work as long as it is lyricless and…
Nevertheless, I hadn’t resolved to actually learn it yet. I could read sheet music thanks to middle school band practice and a short dabble at playing the guitar; a pursuit that ended for the same reason I feared delving into the ordeal of learning the piano. I was overwhelmed by the endeavor of trying to become the nameless pianist in my fantasies. Pieces like Chopin’s “Winter Wind” Etude started to distort in my mind, becoming walls that discouraged me in lieu of the music that once inspired me. One day, however, I decided to start with something small. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” will forever be the cornerstone of my lifelong pursuit at the piano, which was followed by many other songs as I continued to improve and hone my technique. It wasn’t long ago, now, that I finished Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata,” and began practicing Mozart’s formidable “Rondo alla…
