Your bibliography should include at least one book and one sound recording. Many periodicals will also have information on 20th Century composers. YouTube is not an appropriate resource. Please do not use it in your research. Please use MLA format for you bibliography and footnote any direct quotations from your sources. If you do not know what that is, you can find an excellent guide in the student Wiki. You might also try using an MLA citation generator. Here is a link to a good one: http://www.palomar.edu/dsps/actc/mla/ Remember that your sound recording is a source as well, and you need to supply a complete citation of that as well. You also need to use the http://CCCS.NaxosMusicLibrary.com site as one of your sources. Naxos is an extensive library of high quality recordings that you may use for your suplimentary listening and research for this course. Your password is your student

Berlioz’s career began in 1830 with his famous composition of Symphonie fantastique and composers such as Franz Liszt and Niccolò Paganini agreed that Berlioz was indeed the true successor to Beethoven (Holoman, 1). Berlioz desired to be remembered for his limitless love of art and for his faithfulness to compose music that unified him as a composer, conductor and a music critic (Holoman, 2). According to D. Kern Holoman in his book Berlioz, Berlioz was often found quietly weeping, after a concert of his work, over the beauty he had just heard, overwhelmed by music’s power over the spirit (Holoman, 8).…

    Vivaldi: Composer Report

I decided to do my composers report on Antonio Vivaldi. I agree that Vivaldi was one of the best composers and violinists, in my opinion. I wanted to write on Vivaldi because one of my favorite instruments happens to be the violin, which Vivaldi seems to be an expert on. Listening to Vivaldi’s music just took my breath away; the sound was just beyond amazing. I could almost picture the violinist’s playing with such passion and the way that they move to the beautiful music of the violin.…

On behalf of the great Franz Joseph Haydn, I write this letter of recommendation to support the admission of a great composer into the International Enlightenment Society. In order for a musician to be eligible for your society, I understand that he must embody the characteristics of the Enlightenment and more specifically, as a composer, his music must possess the characteristics of the Classical period. I assure you that what you will find in this letter of recommendation will not be disappointing. Franz Joseph Haydn was a great composer of the Classical era. Known as the Father of Symphony and the inventor of string quartets, the examples and styles that Haydn set forth were relied upon by Mozart and Beethoven in creating their own respective masterpieces.…

Vivaldi wrote over 500 concertos and is believed to have invented ritornello form (a theme returning throughout the piece). However, much of Vivaldi’s music lay “undiscovered” until the early 1930’s; this newly discovered music earned Vivaldi the title “The Viennese Counterpart to Bach and Handel.”…

In his 77 years, he became one of the most celebrated composers in Europe. In this paper, the main aim is to compare two biographies of Franz Joseph Haydn; J. P. Larsen “Haydn” and H.C.R. Landon and D. W. Jones , “Haydn: His Life and Music”, in terms of methodology and how they approach the life of Haydn. Similarities and differences between two biographies are the main goals to be discussed, instead of summarizing them briefly.…

The composer I chose is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for my composer report. The reason I chose this composer is because his life was very interesting to me. His life was so interesting that someone wrote a movie about him and several books have been written about his life and work as well. His work has made a lasting impression on the world and our society.…
