How Do People Change In Macbeth
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.” In the play The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Macbeth goes from a guy that wouldn’t hurt a fly to killing serval people just to become King of Scotland. We all wonder if power can change people for the worse and in this play Macbeth did just that. This vicious act later results in Macbeth becoming a king who battles with guilt and fear, continuously murdering individuals believing this will satisfy him and his desires.
In Act 1 of The Tragedy of Macbeth one of the main characters named Macbeth starts as a good and kind man that couldn’t live with himself for killing his cousin Duncan. In the following statement he asks the witches how will be king when the king still lives well and healthy, “Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more: By Sinels death I know I am Thane of Glamis; But how of Cawdor? The thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman; and to be King Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange …show more content…
Later in the play he fell into the witches plan by killing Duncan and his reaction is a lot different than you would expect. He states that “Still it cried “Sleep no more!” to all the house: “Glamis hath murdered sleep, and therefore Cawdor Shall sleep no more: Macbeth shall not sleep no more.” (2.2.42-44). The voices in his heads are beating him up the murder of Duncan and will not allow him to sleep in peace until he comes to peace with himself and what he has done.
Later in the play Macbeth has changed from that kind hearted person in the beginning of the play, he is starting to let power take over him.
