How Did Steve Jobs Impact Society
Introduction
“Things don't have to change the world to be important”. Do you know who said this? That is a humbling quote from Steve Jobs, one of the most impactful people in history. Steven Paul Jobs created some of the most famous devices in history, which all started with him creating computers in his garage. Steve Jobs has had a massive impact on the technological development of our country because he co-created Apple and helped make Pixar into the company it is today, revolutionized the electronics industry because of his devices’ simple and durable designs, and is continuing to innovate with his companies and products even after his death in our modern society. To state one example, Apple is one of the richest companies, having sold the 2nd most products of any kind of technology. It is behind only Microsoft in having sold the most products. This leads to another example of an impact Steve has had, which is that Apple focused and continues to focus on efficiency and has set the standard for technology because of it. Take the iMac for example. At the time, IBM was the leading computer builder at the time and created the majority of computers. When the iMac came along, people started leaving IBM to buy computers from Apple. And why shouldn’t they have, for the iMac was simpler and easier to use. It was also the first to use a mouse, which is now a staple accessory in the computer industry. In addition to this, iMacs also crashed less, glitched less, and froze less. Soon iMacs began to outnumber PCs. One last reason why he has had an impact is that for some time, Apple has been one of the most common computer and device companies. It does not hurt that that Apple has been commonly referred to in many forms of media, including television. Speaking of television, many movies such as Cars and Toy Story and, more recently, Inside Out, have been made by Pixar. This shows Steve’s flexibility in different …show more content…
Even though he was neglected by his biological parents, his adoptive family took care of him and gave him the supplies to start Apple. Jobs and Wozniak may never have invented the Apple I if his parents hadn’t supported his tinkering. His simple designs helped pave the path for modern technology’s simple graphics and beautiful typography. Even after his death, his companies Pixar and Apple survive to make new technology and honor his legacy by continuing to innovate in the field of technology. Without Steve, today we would have complicated and hard to use technology. This is because companies such as Samsung and Microsoft saw the attention his take to electronics was attracting and changed their designs based on it. Also, we would have lost a crucial element to computers: mice. As he was the first to use mice, which were not well known of at the time, we would have lost the ability to simply point and click on computers. Perhaps next time when you boot up your iMac or call someone with your iPhone, you will remember Steve
