How Did Martin Luther King Jr Promote Equality And Human Rights
According to The University of Edinburgh’s website “Equality is ensuring individuals or groups of individuals are treated fairly and equally and no less favorably, specific to their needs, including areas of race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation and age.” This means equal rights, responsibilities; opportunities of women, men, girls and boys, black and whites should be equal. On the other hand, google defines Humans Rights as “the rights which are believed to belong to every person.” “We have 30 basic human rights, according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, created by the United Nations in 1948 to provide a global understanding of how to treat individuals” as stated by Sarah Melody. The first seven rights are; “we are all free and equal, don’t discriminate, no slavery – past and present, no torture, we all have the same right to use the law and we are all protected by the law. In this essay I will be focusing on Martin Luther King Jr when he spoke about equality and human rights, and how I can promote equality and human rights in The Bahamas.

This social activist for equality once said “I have a dream that one day on the hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood.” When I think of this great man’s words I take them to mean that person’s of different races, black and white, will be seen as equals.
