Hitler’s Escape On April 30, 1945 Adolf Hitler committed suicide…or did he? One of the most popular conspiracy theories is that the Fuhrer and his new wife, Eva Braun, escaped to Argentina. FBI documents from September of 1945 admit that Hitler, like many other Nazi leaders, could be hiding in Argentina after arriving by submarine. There is evidence that Hitler escaped found in the remaining bone fragments that the Soviets claimed were Hitler’s. In 2009 it was found out that the skull piece and jawbone belonged to a woman between 20-40 years of age and the DNA did not match Hitler or Eva Braun. According to History.com Hitler stayed in an underground bunker in Berlin. Hitler and his wife took cyanide pills and Hitler shot himself in the head. Their bodies were hastily cremated by some of the Nazi soldiers. When the Soviets arrived, they collected his ashes and moved them continuously so that a memorial could not be built as Hitler’s final resting place. No comment on the falsified remains, possibility of escape, or FBI involvement were made. (“History”)

His investigations showed that Hitler had committed suicide at on 30 April 1945, and that Eva Braun had died with him. In Hitler's case, the manner of death was by shooting - the Fuhrer had put a pistol in his mouth and pulled the trigger. In the case of Eva Braun, she had taken one of the cyanide capsules that everyone living in the Bunker had been issued with. He claimed that it was not a doppelganger that was burned, there wasn’t enough time to get the ganger from the bunker, Hitler was apparently in too poor health to have escaped, and Eva Braun would not have been willing to be replaced by a doppelganger. In a briefcase recovered from the bunker several papers were found. Here was Hitler's Will and Political Testament. This confirmed what Trevor-Roper had been told about the last days in the Bunker. There was also Goebbels's Appendix to Hitler's Political Testament - further corroborative evidence that the picture Trevor-Roper was building up was essentially correct. Third, and perhaps most intriguing of all, there was the marriage contract of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun. All these pointed to the conclusion that Hitler was planning something very dramatic.
