How Did African Americans Affect The Civil War
The reconstruction era was going good until the North ended it. recent arrivals from the North, and scalawags were white Southerners who supported Reconstruction. The 13th, 14th, 15th amendment was to help African Americans and this dream come true. However, in the early 1870's, the tide shifted. Southern states began to elect governments dedicated to whites-only rule. When Rutherford B. Hayes agreed to remove For a while, it seemed that the dream of federal soldiers, he was simply putting an end to an already dying effort. Between the North and the South which sides ended rebuilding the economy of South Carolina. The north killed reconstruction by terror groups / violence and being against African Americans.

Terror groups such as the KKK had a big impact on the influence of the end of Reconstruction. John W. Stephens, State Senator from Caswell was murdered by the Ku-Klux. ( Doc A ) The Ku Klux Klan was a terror group who believed in solving things with violence with anyone that was from the south that had not supported what they believed in they thought of …show more content…
The north ended reconstruction because they did not agree with voting for radical and did not like the Republicans. The KKK was used to help in this and I believe that they were helping the north. In the documents, it talks about the south and how people from the south were getting beat and how they were Republicans. The KKK believed the only way to get what they wanted and what was best for everyone else was to use violence. When a person did something that they didn't like they would beat them or hurt them. Also, the north did not like reconstruction because it allowed African Americans to run government. The south tried everything to show that the south did not know how ton run government and they didn't believe in it because African Americans used to slaves and they don't know how to run office or

    The emergence of the Ku Kux Klan was one of the main contributors to the failure of the Congress' Reconstruction, leaving open spots for other major events that brought completely down the reconstruction. On November 23, 1868, in Tennessee, General George Thomas explained that the purpose of the Ku Kux Klan was to allow the Southern people that participated in the Civil War to come in union with those who had abandoned the thought of inequality. This gave them the advantage to bring back inequality and kill black men. (Document 2). By forgiving these Southern people, killing freedmen became easy.
