How Attribution Affects Us
In this world, we tend to make perceptual mistakes about other people it’s something we all tend to do. When we see someone, who looks strange to us we tend to make a quick judgment on that person. Like if we are walking down the sidewalk and you ignore everything around because you see it every day and suddenly a guy with a superhero costume comes running passed you, you’re going to make a generalization based on his physical traits. In which you conclude he isn’t all right in the mind and doesn’t realize what he is doing. Almost on a daily basis I find myself using the fundamental attribution error just throughout my day without even meaning to. Such as when I’m driving and someone cuts me off my first instinct is they can’t drive but in reality, they may have realized their turn is coming up or something of the sort. Another one would be if I’m in a course with a student who has not talked the entire semester I’m going to assume they are a very shy and quite person. When in reality I haven’t considered the possibilities behind why they are being quite such as they find the course difficult or boring. There have also been times when someone would stick their leg out in front of me and trip me but the possibility could have been they were only stretching out their leg.

There was a time in which my mom had to pick me up after a school activity but she didn’t show up on time. My thoughts were because she was too caught up into her tv show she forgot about me. In reality though she lost track of time and when she realized what time it was she came and got me. As for a controllable attribution when my boyfriend said I couldn’t come over due to the fact he had to install his doors instead of doing that he could have hung out with me.
